A shared silence

Jisung

I arrived at school about twenty minutes late and quickly made my way to my first class only to be stopped by one of the teachers. Mr. Park was the English teacher and was easily one of my favorite teachers.

"Mr. Han late again, are we?" Mr. Park said with raised eyebrows. "I'd say it'll never happen again but we both know that's a lie." I replied. He took one look at me and knew that as usual why I was late, he looked at my bandaged hand to my face. Luckily my face was clear of any bruises but only because my father knew the school was getting suspicious and decided to leave bruises where they would go unseen.

After a few phone calls from the nurse and by the principal a year or so ago my father simply stated I was a clumsy boy and who liked to get into fights with some of the local neighborhood boys. They obviously bought it, but the school nurse knew better than that but kept her mouth shut and helped me when she could.

"Jisung you know you can talk to me, right? Aren't I your favorite teacher, I may be forced to alert anything that seems overly suspicious, but I can still listen and give advice." "Isn't that what the counselor is for?" I said sarcastically. Mr. Park rolled his eyes, but he led me to the library until the first class was done and wrote me a note.

I don't know how I'd make it if it wasn't for the school nurse or Mr. Park to be honest.

As soon as the bell rang, I made haste to my locker and grabbed what I needed for my next class. I walked into History and plopped down on my seat in the back starring out into the courtyard, students started to rush in and find their seats talking amongst themselves.

"Well, well, well finally decided to show up for school, did we?" Chan asked placing his hands on my shoulders holding me down. "Someone get into a fight?" Changbin asked looking at my hand. Right then Minho walked into the room and stared at me as he made his way over to his seat that was just across from mine.

"Min! Look we got ourselves a fighter." Chan beamed finally releasing me from his grip. "Maybe he got one punch in and ran away like the little bitch that he is." "Come on guys, is this necessary?" Minho asked. "Is it necessary." Changbin repeated and rolled his eyes. "Of course, it is! Don't you know this one right here is a walking disease." Chan chuckled.

I hunched over but I could have sworn out of the corner of my eye I could see the concern in Minho's eyes. Or maybe I was just fucking seeing things.

The bell rang signaling the start of class and everyone made their way to their seats. It was a long hour and always getting things thrown at me or Chan and his group always snickering and calling me names and the teacher just lets it happen.

Chan and his friend's families are all some of the wealthiest families and pretty much are the biggest donators to this privileged school so half the time they let all this shit slide.

I know me in a privileged school right, my father being the owner of Han Corporation is also one of those wealthy families and he pays for my schooling here. I'm honestly surprised he still does to be honest; I try to obey my father but other times I just snap and talk back which ends with me getting the shit beat out of me.

Ah lunch time, the time when I take my lunch and get the hell out of this school and make my way outside. Not too long ago I found this little hidden spot at the back of school surrounded by trees and shrubs, so far anyone has yet to find me. Lunch was an hour long and thank God too, so I took my time eating and enjoying the outside. Most of the students ate in the courtyard or inside and usually I can get my lunch and avoid Chan and his friends.

I nibbled on my lunch while listening to my music and not even realizing it someone had sat down beside me. I jerked my head and prepared for the worst, but I saw the concerned dark brown eyes staring back at me.

Minho had found me.

"Interesting place, isn't it?" Minho smiled. "This used to be my hideout way back when. This was the only time I got away from my asshole friends." It was like I was frozen in place and couldn't move or speak so I just stared back at him.

"We can share." Minho grinned.

Minho sat down next to me our knees practically touching each other and it sent shivers through my body, but I just let it be. We sat in silence and ate our lunch, but it was the most comfortable silence I've ever experienced, and it was nice.
