The Perfect Mistake

Chapter Nine

Tyler POV:

"I think I have to talk to her about that once more 'cause it didn't sound like she understood that you aren't her Papa. And also about the daycare part, I didn't know that and Claudia also didn't wrote anything about that." Jamie said. I only nodded and went to my stuff and finally get my gear on.

When I was finished, only a few others where with me in the looker room. I grabbed my stick and made my way to the rink. There was Jamie talking with Pete and one of the manager, probably about what is happening now with Maddy on practice or even game days. Maddy stood by the open bench door and looked on the ice.

"Hey sweetie, what are you doing? Wanna come with me on the ice a bit?" I asked her, she looked unsure to the ice then to me and slowly raised her arms. I took her and placed her on my hip. "Hey guys can you stop play for a bit? I asked the boys loudly. They stopped and I stepped on the ice with Maddy turning a few rounds before I stopped in the middle, put her on the ice and take her hands in case she falls.

Everyone stood in a semicircle around us and watched Maddy take her first steps on the ice, she was a bit wobbly and slipped from time to time but managed it pretty well. As I looked up the most of my teammates where looking at us. "Hey Maddy, do you have fun with Papa?" Danis said with a smile in Maddys direction and I looked at him with an "are you serious" expression on my, but so that only he and those around saw it.

He just looked at me with an evil smirk. Maddy looked up by her name and in Danis direction. "Yea fun wif Papa" she said serious and looked concentrated down on her feet again so she wouldn't fall. I just looked at the new ones who looked at us confused and I could hear that they begin to whisper to each other as I looked down to Maddy again.

Great. The sarcastic voice in my head said but when we really want to mess with the new people then it's really great. I made an imaginary note in my head to discuss this "prank" with Jamie.

I was so deep in thought that I didn't notice that someone was standing next to me, not until I felt an arm around my waist. I didn't have to look to know it was Jamie because nobody else does that to me but him. "Daddy!" Maddy squealed "Hey love, are you walking on the ice, is it fun?" Jamie asked still having an arm around me. I decided to play with the new ones and leaned into Jamie, putting my head on his shoulder, he looked at me confused but only for a second before he just accepted it. And leaned himselfe also a bit on my side. I love that our friendship is like that, that he simply accepts that my head is on his shoulder.

"Mh mh Papa an' I.... swated" Maddy said and since she had now called me Papa loudly for now really everyone to hear, the faces of the new ones got even better and the "old ones" just smiled and made fun of the fact that we will probably have a lot of work, to erase Papa from her memories again since she is at an age where she repeats most of the words she knows from others and when they call me her Papa everytime the harder it gets to get it out of her mind. But also the trainer and management heard it clearly, I guess we will have a talk with them at some point.

"You skated with Papa? That sounds fun." As fast as this sentence left his mouth the fast I lifted my head from his shoulder and looked at his provocative grin. He tought he would mess with me but didn't know that that actually spate into my cards.

Because my "cover" was halfway blown by the quick head lift, I now have to douple my moves to make the new ones believe in my acting. I took my right hand from Maddys and laid it on Jamies left cheek. He looked completely confused just like all of our teammates and I have to suppress my laughter.

I brought my head near to his and put it on his right side next to his head, so that they can't really see my face anymore.

"Play along and by the way when you also name me Papa then we will never get her to not say it. You know?" I whispered in his ear and stroke his cheek a little.

I knew that he play along because I could feel him smile since my hand was still on his cheek and he tightened the grip on my waist. "Why are you doing this?" Was the only thing he replied also in a quiet voice but still with the fake smile on his lips.

"To play with the new kids on the block, it's actually fun. I mean look at their faces." I still whispered and pulled my hand back from his cheek so that he can look at them. They all stood there mouth open and watched us, even the ones that know us for years.

"What is it. Don't you have better things to do? Some privacy please!" Jamie called out. Everyone started moving and skated around without the pucks 'cause Maddy is still on the ice. "I have to say the faces are quite good." He said and turned his head to my side again causing that my and his face are definitely to close.

We heard someone falling behind us what let us to let go of another and turn. There was one of the new ones and the rookie laying on the floor and everyone around them laughing.

But it seems like they didn't care since they just stared at us. Now Jamie and I have to turn around to not show that we are laughing.

"So okey Maddy we have to practice now and you can sit next to Pete okey?" He asked still with a smile on his face picking Maddy up from the ground where she was sliding around the whole time. "No pwease, wan stay here" she tried to argue but Jamie already skated away with her feet on his boots, which actually looked adorable.
