"I lied, I'm not going to work today! I'm buying a Christmas Tree for our house." Lamonte said to himself. He hated lying to his wife because he knew she would get easily mad at him. Especially when it came to work, she believed that work and school were essential parts of life. But he had to do it since he wanted to surprise her by buying Christmas items for this year. She always does the Christmas shopping and he wanted her to take a break from that this time around.

He drove all the way to Christmas Tree Shops, the store that sells nothing but seasonal items especially Christmas stuff.

The store is located at the mall, which is five minutes away from his house. The mall is the biggest in Virginia and all walks of life come here.

He arrived at the mall and walks inside the Christmas Tree Shops. The place looked nice as everywhere was clean, organized, and not too crowded with people.

They were playing good background music. The song they were playing is "All I Want From Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey, that was his favorite Christmas song of all time. Everything about that song was perfect from the jolly music, the genuine and romantic lyrics, and the powerful and emotional vocal performance from Mariah Carey. Mariah Carey was in his top ten favorite singers of all time. This song still holds up today despite being released in 1994.

Even though it is November 30th, stores loved to play holiday music early. Holiday music makes people feel good and makes them want to shop more.

Lamonte loved Christmas music. It gave him a sense of nostalgia and happiness. Sending him back to his childhood where he did not have to worry about growing up and people took care of him. Plus, Christmas music sounds great to him. Hearing all the beautiful melodies. The strong messages about family, giving, believing in Jesus Christ, and being kind to yourself and others.

Christmas music was not his personal favorite genre of music. R&B was his go-to genre of music and been listening to it ever since he was a child. But he's glad that there are a lot of R&B singers that infuse Christmas and R&B together, creating the best of both worlds.

Lamonte was going to take his sweet time getting all the Christmas items.

"Welcome to Christmas Tree Shops, how may we help you?" Becky, the cashier said as he walked through the door. The only reason why he knew her name was because of her name tag.

"I'm looking for a nice and big Christmas Tree. Since this is the Christmas Tree Shops, I bet you all have several Christmas trees." He said.

"We have all types of Christmas trees from small, medium, big, and we got some in different colors like red, green, blue, and white." She told him.

"I'm looking for a Christmas tree with green leaves that have lights and ornaments."

"We do have some with lights. But with the ornaments, it comes separately."

"That's fine. As long as I get what I'm looking for, I'm happy."

"All our Christmas Trees will be located where the Christmas aisle is at. We have plenty of Christmas stuff."

"Thank you, Becky!"

He went to the Christmas aisle, he was amazed by the sheer amount of trees and items there was. It's like a kid in a candy store, there's so many options to choose from because everything looks good.

He was looking for what he wanted until someone from his past decided to show up.

"Oh my God, Lamonte! It's you!" Mariah, his ex-girlfriend showed up.
