Lamonte was startled seeing his ex-girlfriend at the same place he's in. It was like seeing the ghost from Christmas Past. He tried so hard to forget about her, but she ended up creeping back up. He's wondering what does she want from him.
His eyes could not help but gaze at Mariah. She still looked good years after their breakup. She is fully dressed and glamed up; wearing a black dress, exposing a lot of cleavage and she's all glamed up with makeup.
He's wondering why she's all dressed up right now. Was she coming from a special event? Which would not make sense since it's 9am in the morning. Is she going to a special event? Or did she know that he was going to be Christmas shopping and decided to impress him? That last thought also do not make sense because they have not seen each other for years. Honestly, he did not know that she was in the same state as him. So the only logical explanation on why she was all dressed up is because she is going to a special event.
But what he really wants to know is, why does she want to talk to him again? She was the one that cheated on him with another guy and she's acting like nothing happened before. His gut is telling him to leave and never acknowledge her. But if he does that, she might try to cause a scene and he does not want that to happen.
"Oh, hey..." He said, trying his hardest to keep calm and not show any frustrations or worries.
"How are you? It's been like twelve years since we've seen one another. Wow, you look just as good or even better than before." She complimented him, but he did not favor it at all. He does not feel comfortable with Mariah or any other women that isn't his wife complimenting him.
"Thanks, I guess..." He said, feeling uncomfortable by every word she utters.
"You're probably wondering why I'm here talking to you. Well, it's not because I'm stalking you or am I?" She pauses, looking deep into his soul. She's not making things better for him.
"Sike, I'm just playing! I came here to do Christmas shopping and then out of nowhere, I saw you at the Winter aisle. I must talk and catch up with you." She explains, laughing and having the time of her life seeing him again.
"What a coincidence, I'm doing Christmas shopping as well." He faked a laugh.
"Crazy isn't it? Well, what's been going on with you?" She asked, giving her full focus on him.
"I'm married with three children." His instinct told him to say that, letting her know that he's happily married and don't need her in his life anymore.
"Oh... That's great to know! Who are you married to? Do I know her?" She asked.
He grew suspicious about the way she just responded. She paused when she said "Oh", it's like she was not expecting that as an answer or she's jealous that he married another woman. Plus no sane person would ask if they knew the person they're marrying. It was like she was trying to plot on him.
"I married Mary" He simply said.
"I don't know or remember any Mary's in my life. Can I see a picture of her?"
It was official, she was definitely plotting something. She was jealous because only crazy people would ask to see a picture of someone's spouse. She was trying way too hard to play innocent, she knows what she's doing.
"I'm sorry, but my phone is dead." He lied.
"That's fine. I just came here to catch up with you. Hopefully, we get to see each other again and hang out. I will leave you alone now." She said, leaving the aisle with ornaments in her hand. She sashayed while walking away, he knew all along what she was doing. He could not believe that he acknowledged her and played into her tricks. Next time he sees her, he will get as far away from her as possible.
