"The surprise I have for you all is that I bought Christmas stuff today." Lamonte revealed, feeling good and accomplished about buying the holiday material. His smile is kind of wavering since he did have an awkward moment with his ex, but he doesn't want to focus on her. Plus, he does not want to ruin anything with his wife or family.
"Wait... What?!" Mary blurted out with her eyes wide open, could not believe what her husband just said.
"I know it's shocking that I did all the Christmas shopping since your mother does all of it each year. But I decided to give her a break and do it myself." He said, feeling happy.
Every one else does not say anything since they notice that their mother is not reacting. She has her hands on her hips and giving him the death stare.
"Speechless, isn't it? So... What do you all think?" He asked.
"I got a question." Mary said.
"Yes, baby?" He asked.
"Why did you lie to me that you had work today?" She questioned, looking annoyed at her husband.
"I'm sorry for lying to you baby. I will never do that again." He apologized, she still looked annoyed at him.
"Also, why didn't you tell me that you were doing Christmas shopping? I would have loved to help out!" She raised her voice, standing in a stance where she wants to slap her husband upside his head. But she didn't go too far especially since her kids and dog were watching.
"Like I said, you always do Christmas shopping each year. I wanted to surprise you by buying all the essential Christmas decorations for both outdoors and indoors. Did I disappoint you, baby?" He asked.
The kids were silently snickering to themselves at the melodrama that was happening. They were hoping and praying that they do not grow up and become this dramatic.
"No-" she sighed, "You did not disappoint me, boo. I'm just annoyed that you were not honest with me. You should have discussed with me first before buying anything. We're a married couple, we should not hide anything from one another." She told him, her mood was calming down.
"Thank you so much, baby!" He said, feeling relieved that his wife was not mad at him.
"What decorations did you get, boo?" She asked. All the kids stopped laughing as they were ready to find out what their Dad bought for the house.
Lamonte bought outdoor materials such as Christmas Icicle Lights 33ft 400 LED, a circular garland with lights, a figurine of baby Jesus being cared for by his mother, inflatable Snowmen and Reindeers, a Christmas tree, and Christmas tree ornaments.
He managed to fit all that in his car. He drives a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe, which is a big car with a lot of trunk space.
"So, what do you all think?" He asked everyone.
"The reindeers look so cute!" Ashley squealed with joy.
"I love everything, Dad!" Tom said.
"These are perfect!" Ellie said.
Miguel barked with a happy smile, letting everyone know that he approved. Lamonte felt joyful that the kids and Miguel loved everything. Now, he is waiting to know what his wife thought.
"I need to talk to you more inside the house without the kids or Miguel around." Mary told him.
"Mom, we want to know what you thought about Dad's Christmas items. Do you love them or not?" Ashley asked.
"Darling, I need to talk to your father real quick." She said.
"You're not leaving until we get a genuine response from you!" Ellie said, blocking the door so that no one leaves the outdoors.
"Come on now, it's not that serious. We just need to have our adult talk-" She got interrupted by Tom and Miguel giving her the puppy dog eyes. She could not say 'no' to the cuteness of her baby boy and dog.
"Alright, here are my thoughts..." She gave in to her children's requests, they all cheered, "Despite you lying about going to work, I'm glad that you took your time to buy the essential outdoor Christmas materials. The icicle lights are a unique touch. I love that you found a photorealistic version of baby Jesus and his mother. I agree with Ashley, the reindeers are cute!"
"Aww, thank you so much mother! I'm glad that you agree with me on something." Ashley felt pleased and thankful by the words her mother said.
"You're welcome, sweetheart." She said, she's happy that her daughter is happy. Only wants the best for her.
"I appreciate that you love the Christmas decorations. It wasn't easy finding these items, but by the grace of God, I found and bought them before anyone could take them." He said, feeling blessed that his hard-work did not go to waste and everyone loved it.
"You are very welcome, my baby boo." She said.
"Did you get any indoor items? I know we already have some, but we don't have a lot." Ellie asked.
"Darn it, I forgot to buy indoor stuff!" He replied, everyone started to laugh. "What's so funny?" Confused on what they're laughing about.
"You said 'Darn it', only Cowboys and Cowgirls say stuff like that. This isn't the Wild Wild West!" Ashley continued to laugh.
"Who said I wasn't a cowboy? You should all me Cowboy Lamonte!" He joined in on the fun, impersonating a Cowboy.
"Dad, you're embarrassing us now!" Ellie put her head down while still laughing.
"Alright, we all had our fun now. Let's store all the Christmas stuff in the garage and get back inside, it's cold." Mary told everyone. Everyone grabbed the items and put them in the garage. All the kids and Miguel went back inside the house.
"You got more explaining to do, Cowboy Lamonte! Giddy up!" She told him, slapping his booty.
