"I found a lot of self confidence in myself!" Tom told everyone, feeling happy and comfortable.
"This day is getting better and better!" Mary said, loving all the positivity that was going on.
"Can you explain to us more on why you're feeling this way?" Lamonte asked, he also felt good about his son's confidence.
"Before school ended, the principal wanted to have a word with me-" Tom got interrupted by Ellie.
"Wait, you went to the Principal's office today? What happened? Are you in trouble?" She asked, feeling worried that her brother might have done something wrong. But everyone knew she was overreacting.
"No, I was not in trouble at all. The principal gave me advice that I will never forget and will always appreciate." He said.
"What did the principal told you?" Mary asked.
"He told me to not try to hard to get a girlfriend and I should focus on myself." He revealed.
"Why would the principal tell you that, especially to a first grader?" Ellie questioned.
"At lunch time, I decided to ask out a girl in my age that I had a crush on for a while. She was beautiful and I wanted to see if she could be my girlfriend." He explained.
"Well, what did she say? Ellie asked. Everyone was focused on the conversation, including Miguel. Dogs can understand the information and emotions behind human speech. Once he heard that Tom mentioned a girlfriend, he could relate since he wanted one as well.
"She rejected me, which made me sad." Tom replied.
"Aww, I'm sorry to hear that." Ellie sincerely told him, feeling bad.
"That's life for you. Not everyone is going to like and accept you. But as long as you stay true to yourself, all those rejections will not mean a thing to you." Mary chimed in.
"Exactly. Do you know how many times women rejected me? It's too much to count. I almost gave up on love until I met your mother. Ever since I met her, all those other women who rejected me and broke my heart are jealous that I have the best woman in the world." Lamonte said and his wife could not help but blush.
"Thank you. Those comments are the same thing that Principal Kenny told me. He told me that rejection is a normal part of life and I should not let one person's rejection ruin my entire livelihood." Tom said.
"He also told me to focus on myself. Continue living my childhood, get good grades in school, make friends no matter what gender they are, do things that I'm passionate about, don't worry about falling in love too quickly, and live my best life." Tom added.
"Wow, your Principal is amazing for sharing all this to a six year old. What's his name again?" Mary asked.
"Principal Kenny" Tom replied.
"I definitely have to meet him in person and thank him for giving wonderful advices and helping my son gain more confidence in himself." Mary said.
"Anything else going on with Tom?" Lamonte asked.
"Not really. Right now, I want to focus on completing school work. I want to have fun again. I'm thankful for my life!" Tom happily said.
"All this positivity is making me tear up. You all are making my day better. I want to know what Ellie is feeling. Hopefully, it is more great news." Mary said, waiting patiently for Ellie to share.
