"Why are you crying, Ellie?" Ashley asked, noticing how distraught she was. They are both riding the bus back home.
"Why do you want to know?" Ellie questioned why her sister was interested in her situation.
"I'm your sister and we need to stick together no matter what." Ashley replied.
"Well, you're too young to find out." Ellie dismissed her.
"I'm only one year younger than you. Plus I'm mature enough to handle difficult situations." She said, trying to convince her sister. Ellie wiped her tears away using her jacket. Other kids on the bus noticed, but she ignored them.
"Alright. My boyfriend just told me that he was moving to Spain after he gets done with elementary school. Which made me angry and sad because he was going to leave me alone." She revealed.
"Why is he going to Spain? That is so random!" Ashley asked, feeling perplexed just like her sister.
"That's exactly what I thinking. His explanation was that Spain had the greatest international basketball league and his parents both got good jobs." She explained.
"What's even the point of continuing on with the relationship when you're not going to see him and he's millions miles away?" Ashley questioned, she felt the same way that Ellie was feeling. Ellie appreciated that her sister understood what she was going through, despite never being in a relationship and being younger than her.
"For real! He told me that he wanted to do long distance relationship." She revealed more.
"Na big big bɔbɔ we nɔ gɛt sɛns" Ashley told her sister what a foolish boy Brandon was. Ellie laughed hearing her said that, lifted up her spirits.
"I can always count on you to make me feel better." She complimented her sister, showing her love and gratitude.
"We're sisters. We are supposed to take care of one another no matter what. Plus, no one can't resist my humor and charm." Ashley confidently said, bragging for a bit. Ellie chuckled and nodded her head in agreement.
"You're right! Enough about me, what have you been up to?" She asked, trying to change the subject. She doesn't want to talk about Brandon anymore.
"You won't believe it, but my drama class will be performing A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden in New York." Ashley revealed, feeling happy even after receiving the news.
"Wow, that's amazing!" She was happy for her sister.
"I know right!" Ashley said.
"When does the play start?" She asked.
"It starts on Christmas Day. However, each student needs to turn in their permission slips signed by their legal guardian on December 1st, which will be exactly next week." Ashley responded.
"When are you planning to tell mom and dad?" She asked.
"Hopefully, today. I pray to the high heavens that they do not reject it. This is the opportunity of a lifetime and can open a lot of doors for me. So I'm hoping for the best." Ashley said.
"Knowing mom and dad, they rather argue than agree." She commented on her parents.
"Ah God!", Ashley mimicked her mother, "That's what she loves to say whenever she don't like something."
"Dis pikin dem so fulish. Gɔd, kam tek dɛn bifo a yuz stik fɔ pɔnish dɛn." Ellie also mimicked their mother. She said, "These kids are so foolish. God, come get them before I use a stick to punish them."
"Oh my God! I thought I was the ruthless one." Ashley laughed so hard, couldn't believe that her sister would say foolish remarks.
"I love mom, but she does too much. It gets annoying hearing her get mad and gives us a lecture." Ellie pointed out.
"I feel you" Ashley agreed.
"I wonder what mom and dad are doing now?" Ellie pondered.
"They're probably doing the nasty." Ashley said.
"How do you know about the nasty?" Ellie asked, shocked that her little sister knew such a thing.
"I heard them doing the nasty all night. I barely gotten any sleep." Ashley said.
"Oh, you're right. It was hard to fall asleep hearing all the wild stuff they were doing." Ellie added.
"Let's stop talking about the nasty before I throw up all over this bus!" Ashley exclaimed, she didn't want to hear anymore. Ellie laughed, her tears were long gone and Brandon was not in her mind.
"Alright. I wonder what the best dog in the world, Miguel is doing right now." Ellie pondered.
