Chapter 11 - going to camp

It was a week later, me and Lisa had been hanging out more and more and we had been on a few more dates. I was exited to go off to camp but I didn't want to leave Lisa at the same time, we had spent the past week pretty much constantly in each others company and now I'm not going to see her for months.

I had packed up my bag and was waiting for my taxi to get to camp, I was going in a taxi with Millie and Beth as well.

My taxi arrived and I got in the back next to Millie as Beth was in the front. "Hey, you alright?" Millie asked as I put my seatbelt over my body. "Yeah, I'm great actually. How about you?" I asked smiling as I thought about Lisa who made me feel so happy I could explode. "I'm great, exited for the euros. But tell me why you are in such a good mood." Millie replied and Beth turned around in her seat to look at us "I think you may have met someone." Beth said glancing over to me as I blushed, "the blush says it all, she is falling!" Millie shouted excitedly "I may have met someone but I am not falling as of yet I am just really enjoying her company," I said and they both gave me a shocked expression "wait so you are actually with someone? What happened with you and Leah because you looked quite close." Millie asked me questions shocked. "Yes I am seeing someone, and me and Leah left things off after some stuff happened." I said and they both knew not to question it.

We chatted and laughed the rest of the way to SGP. Once we arrived we saw the media person ready to film our arrival.

We got out of the car and grabbed our bags from the back, we all waved at the camera as we walked in and went straight to find out what rooms we were in.

I waked over to the table where all of our room keys were, I found my name and instantly headed up to my room. I walked in and it was empty, I was silently praying that I wasn't rooming with Leah this time.

After waiting for about twenty the door opened, I looked over and saw Hempo walking through the door. "Oh my god, I can't believe it! Hempo!" I screamed before jumping into her arms, luckily she caught me. "I've missed you so much, how have you been? Anything new going on?" She asked as she put me down and walked the rest of the way into the room and putting her bags away. "So I may or may not be seeing someone" I started before she cut me off "oh my gosh who?! You must tell me," she said "well nothing is official yet but I have been on a couple dates with Lisa Evans," I said and she was shocked "you know Lisa?" She asked and I just giggled "not until a few weeks ago," I said before telling her the whole story of how me and Lisa met.

After chatting for about thirty minutes we headed down to the team meeting. We walked in and I instantly froze when I saw Leah, I didn't think I would react like this, I thought I was over her and that I had moved on. I didn't know why I still got that nervous feeling around her, she still made me feel nervous but exited at the same time, I didn't know what was going on.

Me and Hempo went and sat next to Leah as they were the only seats available, as soon as we sat down Sarina started her talk with us "right girls I know it has been a while since our last major tournament but I just want to tell you how much I believe in you all, I picked you all for a reason and I want you all to show me I made the right decision. Our first match in the euros will be against Northern Island in Southampton, I want you all to play every match like it is your last in this competition because that might just be the case. I want all of you, if you ever feel like you aren't motivated enough or we are points down, to think about what it would mean and what it would feel like to lift that trophy." She said starting off with a motivational speech before running through how call was going to go.

After Sarina finished talking about camp she invited Leah up to say a few things for the team "hey everyone, hope you are all feeling ok," she started and I felt butterflies as she glanced in my direction. " I just want to say that I believe in all of you and know you will all go far. I have trust in this team and we have not only experience but tallent. I feel like we could go and win this tournament." Once she had finished talking she sat back down next to me and smiled at me, I returned the smile before she leaned over and whispered into my ear "we should talk," I nodded my head at what she said and continued to listen to Sarina as she said goodbye to al of us.

I left the meeting room and waited for Leah "hey, where do you want to go," she asked and I just shrugged my shoulders "I don't mind , it depends what you want to take to me about," I answered before she started walking off into the physio room "here is good," she said before sitting on one of the beds "Le are you ok? You seem nervous or stressed about something," I said softly to her as she was looking at her hands and playing with her rings "well not really. I miss you like a lot, I think of you all the time and I think about what an idiot I was for letting you go," she said and I could tell she was stressed as she wouldn't sit still. "I miss you too but I can't forgive what you did, I have gotten a lot of hate for it and just because you deleted the video doesn't mean it has left social media. I still get the odd clip of it come up on my for you page or instagram feed." I said "I know I get what I did was wrong and I will never forgive myself for doing it and being so careless about what I posted." She said and I just looked at her disappointed face and felt instantly bad "I saw you, I saw you with Lisa, are you together?" She asked me and I felt my stomach drop. "Yes," I said carefully not wanting to upset her, "I have been going out with her for a little while now." I finished and saw her face drop, she was disappointed and sad, I didn't blame her I just told her that I was seeing someone else and she obviously still had feelings for me. "I'm happy for you, you two make a good couple." She said before getting up and leaving.

I went back up to my room and I felt bad. i didn't feel bad for being with Lisa, i felt bad for Leah and the way she looked when I told her I had moved on.

Once I got in the room Hempo was laying on her bad aimlessly scrolling through tik tok. I want in and collapsed onto my bed and let out a loud sigh, she noticed and sat up "you ok?" She asked in a soft voice. "Not really," I replied tiredly " what's up?" She questioned getting up off of her bed and coming to lay next to me on mine. "You know how last camp I had a little thing happen with Leah then it all went Pete tong when she posted that video on insta?" I started "well after that I moved on and I thought that I wouldn't still have feelings for her, but I think I do I still like her. I don't want to be unfair or disrespectful to Lisa because I also really like her, I don't know what to do," I rolled over and covered my head with a pillow. "So what your heart wants, you can't force anything with anyone." Was all Lauren said as she comforted me.

We went down for our training session after watching a film. I tried to avoid Leah at all costs, I was doing pretty well until I got paired up with her to do a drill. We were doing a 1v1 and I was playing my usual attack and she was defending. I was running up towards the mini goal with the ball trying to get past to score. I ran down her lady band and got passed her, I was just about to scare when I felt my feet get swept from under me. I fell to the ground clutching my right ankle, I stayed down on the floor and Leah came over "sorry about that, didn't mean to do that." We said and I could tell she didn't properly mean it, I got up and limped over to the side to go to get my foot checked out.
