I got sent inside to the physio room and saw the physio, she gave me a disappointed look as she saw me limping into the room. "Ankle again?" She asked already knowing the answer to her question. I nodded and went to sit on the bed.
I had a history of ankle injuries as I had ruptured my ATFL when I was ten which set me back a lot until I was sixteen and had surgery to fix it.
When I was ten I was at a birthday party at a local trampoline park, my friends and I were messing around and jumping off of the ledge onto the trampolines. We completely ignored the rules of one person per trampoline and all jumped off of the ledge at the same time. I landed wrong and fell down screaming and clutching to my ankle, first aiders ran towards me and tried to get me off of the trampolines. My parents weren't there as I was at a party so they had to be called to pick me up, once they arrived they were trying to make the other parents feel less bad. We went to the nearest hospital and they told me it was just a sprain and sent me away with exercises and crutches. I kept trying to do the exercises and put weight through it but it was getting no better. It started to bruise and turn purple and my parents eventually decided to take me back to hospital. It was a waiting game for the whole day, we stayed in the same ward all day as doctors tried to figure out the problem, they tried to send me home almost immediately with a boot but realised that the bruising looked too severe. I was left on the ward with barely any updates and constantly having doctors Come in to tell me I needed another X-ray. After waiting for them to look at the many X-rays I had they came back over and told me I needed an MRI scan to see if it was ligaments. After they told me this they left me waiting while they booked for an MRI. After about an hour and a half I was wheeled out of the ward on a hospital bed to the MRI rooms, i lay in the bed waiting still. When they finally called my name I had to get out of the bed and into a wheel chair, once I had gotten into the wheelchair it wasn't look before I had to get back out of it and get onto the MRI bed. Once I was on they started the scans, I had no clue what was going on and couldn't hear anything other than the radio being played into my ears through headphones. Once they MRI was done I was sent to a different ward when I had some food, I ate it all and was getting very tired of all the waiting. Once the doctor came in and told me a bunch of words I didn't understand she eventually said "in the most simple way possible you have snapped your ligament," I still had no clue what she was on about but luckily she went on to explain. I was put into a temporary cast and sent home. As soon as I got home I had to navigate my way up the stairs and into my bed. I eventually got there and instantly fell asleep.
After I was all healed I didn't think anything more of the injury I just saw it as six months off football but it was more than that. I was in PE and I was running around the field and I turned it again in a pot hole, I knew something wasn't right and instantly told my teacher who told me to go get changed and he would get someone to contact my mum. I got changed and then went back out to the field where I sat on a bench doing the scores for a rounders match, neither of my parents could be there quickly as they both had work so I waited until my dad arrived. I tried to walk to the car but had lost the ability to put weight through my ankle, so I had to be carried by my dad to the car and he took me home. The next morning I was being woken up for school and my dad asked how my ankle was and I tried walking on it but just burst into tears at even the slightest amount of weight so I was taken back to the hospital where I was told there was no bones broken and the doctors weren't listening, she told me that everything was fine and I could start walking on it, my mum stalled in and told her it wasn't the bones we were worried about and went on to explain the whole story. The doctor realised her mistake and sent me off with a boot and crutches.
The next six years were a repeat of that k kept turning my ankle and I became a regular at the hospital. I hated it. I eventually got surgery on it and it was all ok until now. Leah had caught my ankle at the wrong angle and I could feel something wasn't right. As I sat in the physio room I was disappointed what if this stopped me playing in the euros, "right missy," dawn the physio said to me "there is a little bit of swelling but you would be ok, any problems come and see me and as much as you are going to hate me for saying this you can't train or play for about a week to give your ankle time to heal. Ok?" I was disheartened at that last part, I knew it was coming but I didn't want it to happen. "Ok," I reluctantly said as she gave me a list of exercises And gave me a physio program for each day of the week to hopefully get me back on track.
I headed straight back up to my room and heard that Lauren was in the shower, she was singing very loudly I'm pretty sure every room could hear her. Once she came out she looked at me shocked "how long have you been here?" She asked and I just laughed "not long don't worry but I was here long enough to hear most of your immaculate performance, remind me when is the album coming out?" I asked sarcastically and she threw a pillow at my head "woah woah woah, I'm injured enough I don't think throwing a pillow is the best thing for me," I said sarcastically and she looked at me shocked "what? Injured, since when?" She asked shocked "since Leah slide tackled me in training and caught my ankle," I said annoyed at the mention of her name right now "oooohh sounds painful are you ok?" She asked and just as I was about to reply there was a knock at the door "I'll get it," she shouted and I just giggled at how oblivious she was "oh wait, I am the only one who can get it," she paused and realised her mistake before opening the door.
I looked down at my phone not wanting to intrude on any conversation going on at the door I was just about to open instagram when I heard Lauren shouting from the door "Leah hi!" She exclaimed and I felt panic settle in, what if she is here to talk to me I don't think I want that, I thought to myself as I panicked "can I speak to Ella?" I heard Leah ask from the door. Hempo turned to look at me and I nodded "I'll give you two some space" she said letting Leah in and leaving herself.
"What do you want?" I asked coldly to Leah "to talk?" She said and I just felt annoyed at how she had been so cruel one second and now she wanted to talk to me about something, it all felt like bullshit. "About what? I dont want to have to deal with some fucked up and shitty excuse for why you put in such a horrible challenge," I replied angry.
We sat in silence before she started to speak.
