Caleb had taken his seat in the very back with me by his side. I could feel Holden's eyes on us the entire time. Under Caleb's hot gaze, my hands shook as I opened up the booklet for the assignment. I forced a mental shake.

What is it about this guy? Why does he make me squirm?

I cleared my throat and avoided his eyes, instead I kept mine leveled with the part of the booklet that read; Summary.

"Have you gotten a chance to read it over yet?" I tried to act as nonchalant as possible with the boy that I had mentally cheated on my boyfriend with last night.

"I haven't. I've been a little busy lately," his voice was smooth but huskey, it was hard to believe he was in twelfth grade. He spoke in a way that suggested that he didn't quite want to be here but was forced to be.

"That's alright, I can go over it with you."

I looked up to meet his eyes and for the first time, I could see that they weren't grey but dark green with specks of caramel, I could feel the breath escape his perfect lips. I had pictured them so vividly in my head last night, I missed the inch of protruding tattoo, however, creeping out of his shirt and into his neck. He was so close, I could still feel his tongue on my skin.

God, he's got to be like the hottest guy I have ever met.

I cleared my throat again and looked away," basically, she's going to give us a large piece of cardboard. Every subject we cover, we have to build a visual display of it onto the cardboard until eventually the semester is over."

"So that means that we're going to be partners until the end of this class?"

Nervously, I nodded," Um-once we begin building it, we can't move it, and we can only do it after class so I was thinking we should start to build it at my place?"

The thought of being alone with him at his home, wherever that was, made my stomach drop. I have always been so loyal to Holden, but this man made me doubt myself. I couldn't quite trust what he was capable of making me do, the thought alone made my head hurt. Not to mention if Holden were to find out, he'd kill us both. At the very least in my home, mom was around. He shrugged,"whatever, not like you'll fit in much at mine."

I scrunched my eyebrows. Was that meant to be an insult? Who does he think he is?
"Why, where do you live?"

He raised his eyebrows,"Don't you think that's a little personal?"

Ouch. I felt my cheeks going red again," I mean, you are going to be coming to my house anyway, and I didn't mean to pry-"

"I'm kidding, relax."

We sat in silence for a while whilst Mrs. Winston demanded our attention for an announcement, during which, I could only remain puzzled at Caleb's behavior. He seemed decent enough at chemistry yesterday, what has triggered the sudden urge to be a jerk? At the end of her speech, I tried again with Caleb.
