Isabella
My first instinct was to run and I did just that but the rogue was so close already that there was hardly any chance of out-running him. I tried to dart between the trees but if his vision was as good as mine then it didn't matter where I went, despite the dark night everything would be visible. I felt his jaw clamp around my legs and shrieked out in pain . I used my other leg to kick him off and sped even faster. There was finally some distance between us now, I needed to find a way to lose him. I turned back to discover that he was nowhere to be seen. I hesitated for a moment in case this was a trick, and indeed it was. The rogue leaped from the top of a tree and right in front of me. I backed away but my legs hit a truck.I have to fight, I have no other choice.
The rogue approached me slowly, jaw wide open like his hungry eyes, thick droplets of drool were hitting the soil like puddles.
I can't be scared, I thought, I can't let him win.
He leaped up with fangs sharper then daggers and I dodged his first hit. I tried to take off again but he dragged me back with a firm bite on my ankles. I growled out in pain and fury and spun to claw him across the face. My talons left five deep and bloody indents in his face. He took only a second to recollect and charged at me again. The rogue bit into my hinds and I cried out as the blood from the attack splatted the both of us. I bit into his neck and pulled back with a piece of flesh. The rogue trashed his head back and howled. He bit into my neck now and lifted me up to smash my back against the hard soil. I felt the muscles in my back collapse. Everything stung in pain and exhaustion was fast approaching, the rogue hovered over me with a sick smile on his face.
Ready to die, his expression read.
I tried to sit up but the wolf stood on both of my legs, talons pressed firmly into my bloody wounds. I growled in anger and resisted.
If he's going to kill me, I'm going to die fighting.
The rogue opened its jaw wide in preparation to bite down on me. He suddenly screamed out and collapsed to the side of me. What I wasn't expecting was a second wolf to approach, a dark red one that opened its mouth to growl into the wounded rogue's face. The rogue shrunk under his power and cried out in pants of fear. He limped away back into the darkness of the trees.
I turned to look at my savour. Dimitri shifted back into a mortal."Shift," he tossed his oversized t-shirt beside me.
I obeyed and shrugged it on awkwardly, facing my naked back to Dimitri who politely looked away. I turned to face him and immediately collapsed onto the bloody soil. Dimitri lifted me up against his chest and began walking back.
"Thank you," I mumbled awkwardly. I couldn't tell if he was mad at me. After all, he warned me multiple times to steer clear of the rogues and I did the exact opposite. He didn't respond to me at first. After a while he said," you're hurt."
"I'll be fine, I just need some rest."
"You're bleeding."
"Don't take me home, take me to-"
"Your ex-boyfriend's house? I know."
I should have known by now that he followed me there. Dimitri placed me seated in the passenger seat and gave me tissue paper to press against my bleeding leg. The drive wouldn't be too long, I felt guilty being around Dimitri and wanted to avoid talking.
"I told you to stay away," he said now that we were on our way to Holden's.
"I know, but I had to find out what the meeting was about-"
" If I was just a few seconds late, you would be dead."
"I know, I know, but I couldn't resist. Something with the full moon, I had to shift-"
