*Firehouse 51: Apparatus Floor*
"Severide." Chief called, walking over to the Squad Table with Ana at his side. "That house fire this morning, you get any whiff of arson?"
"Arson?" Kelly shook his head, confused. "No, why?"
"Because CPD has asked OFI to get involved." The brunette revealed with a sigh. "Apparently, we've been called out to that house a lot over the years for domestic disturbances between the two sisters that live there."
"Julia and Courtney." The Lieutenant nodded, tossing aside whatever he had been reading and standing up from his chair.
"The mother died a few years back. The older one was stuck raising her half-sister, a real problem child, apparently. But now that she's 18, theory is she's making grown-up-sized trouble." Chief explained.
"They think Julia torched the house?" Kelly scoffed. "No, no way."
"What makes you so sure?" The older man wondered.
"Just my gut instinct from interacting with her on the call." The Lieutenant replied, confidently.
"Well, the rest of my blue blooded brethren don't share your gut." Ana muttered. "Henry's been trying everything to get the case transferred over to Intelligence but the unit that currently has it is being extremely territorial and, against our wishes, they've already arrested her." She revealed, sadly.
Kelly just stared at her in shock but, as Chief returned to the inside of the Firehouse, the brunette could practically see the gears turning in her Godson's head.
*Fire Scene: A Little While Later*
Squad 3 rolled to a stop across the street from what was left of a charred and burned house.
"Hey, just hold tight for a bit. This shouldn't take long." Kelly assured before hopping out.
"Copy that." Tony replied.
"Why are we back here?" Capp groaned. "Severide forget something?"
"You see all these OFI vehicles, don't you? Severide's playing Fire Cop again." Joe smirked.
"Oh, what? And I don't?" Ana scoffed.
"That's different. You're allowed to. It's practically in your job description." Capp retorted, playfully.
The brunette rolled her eyes and got out of the truck, rushing after her Godson who was already halfway inside the building.
"Hello, anybody home?" Kelly called out as they, cautiously, ascended some stairs.
"This is a closed scene." A feminine voice warned right as a flashlight caught them in the face. "Severide, I was about to boot you from my crime scene."
"Is it really a crime scene?" The Lieutenant countered with a warm smile.
"I'm here, aren't I?" Ana smirked.
"Fair enough." He conceded with a small laugh. "Uh, Wendy Seager, meet Ana Voight. She's. . . an old family friend."
The younger woman's gaze landed on the elder's badge and her eyes lit up in understanding.
"Did you work the fire?" The OFI Lieutenant wondered.
"Yeah, didn't see any signs of arson though." Kelly murmured. "You?"
