*Outside of Escano's Bakery*

A black SUV rolled to a stop in front of the Intelligence Unit's two Detectives. The doors opened and the Voights hopped out, each wearing their version of a concerned expression.

"You guys all right?" Ana wondered.

They nodded in response.

"What the Hell happened?" Hank demanded.

"We had to engage. We had no choice. Jumped off right in front of us." Hailey explained.

The Sergeants shared a quick look.

"Okay." The brunette conceded, motioning for them to continue.

"The offender's in the wind. He was about 6 foot, 180, masked, gloved up." Jay listed as the small group started walking deeper into the scene. "I'm guessing he had a car nearby."

"Okay, you running PODS?" Hank inquired.

"Yeah, we got PODS and cams going already." The blonde replied.

"I shot him in his right side, so he's gonna need medical attention." The male Detective added.

"So the offender had an intended target?" Ana asked in confirmation.

"Yes, it was premeditated. The offender was lying in wait. Victim's name is Joshua DeSoto. He's on his way to Med right now with his girlfriend. She seems unharmed, but the bullet blew out Joshua's spine." Hailey reported in a grim tone.

Hank suddenly paused and turned to face the two Detectives, making his wife do the same.

"Did we just burn our entire case on Escano?" He questioned in a low mutter, making sure only the three cops with him could hear.

"No, I don't think so. Anna was the only one here." Jay shook his head.

"She came outside to help?" The older man guessed.

"She did good though." The blonde assured. "Kept her cover. No one else was inside."

"Escano wasn't here. I think we're good." The male Detective agreed.

Ana suddenly stepped back behind her husband and nodded towards the bakery. Everyone glanced over to see Escano, himself, walking into building with a phone pressed to his ear.

"Okay, let's make sure of that." Hank murmured.

*District 21: Parking Lot*

The older man pulled into an empty space and sat back, closing his eyes with a sigh. He reopened them a few seconds later after feeling another hand cover his. Hank found that Ana had pulled her mask down and was gazing at him with a reassuring smile on her lips. He switched their grips and, with grateful eyes, squeezed back gently in return. The two Sergeants proceeded to step out of their car and found Adam, with his arm still in a sling, waiting for them a few feet away.

"So, we burnt?" The Officer wondered, sliding into step on Hank's left.

"We're not sure. Bluejay's watching the bakery." Ana replied.

"All right, what do we got on our victim?" The older man inquired as they entered the Basement/Garage.

"ID'd as Joshua DeSoto, ex-banger, born and raised in Pilsen. Got out of Menard a year ago. He was hooked in with the Latin Players, got a five-year bid for possession." Adam reported, following the couple towards the stairs. "But it looks like he dropped his flag in prison. Good behavior, early parole. Been living with his girlfriend Emy since he got out. Emy, she's clean as a whistle."
