*Crime Scene*
"Kev picked this one up?" Hank asked in confirmation as he and Ana emerged from a flight of stairs with Adam right behind them.
"Yeah." The Officer nodded. "Victim's name is Brent Landry. His wife Raquel was also here. It looks like a home invasion gone wrong."
"The intruders forced their way in the back door. They ransacked the whole place. They got into a safe and a jewelry box." Jay added, joining the trio and guiding them over to Hailey who was leaning forwards on a table a few feet away.
"They took off quick, but first they went after the wife, shot at her three times. Two misses, one hit, none lethal." The blonde reported.
"The husband's body's upstairs." Her partner finished.
Hank glanced up the second case of stairs before looking over at his wife and motioning for her to go first. Ana just shook her head and cracked a small smile behind her mask. Ever the gentleman.
The two Sergeants entered the first room they came across and found Kim crouched near the body, shining a flashlight on its fingers.
"That's a Hell of a beat down." Hank observed. "Wasn't light work."
"Feels personal." Kevin chimed in, appearing on Ana's left.
"Mm-hmm." She hummed in agreement.
"The wife, she's on her way to Med right now. She's still in shock." The dark skinned Officer informed. "All I could get out of her was 'two offenders, masked up.'"
"Then how did she make it out alive?" Hank wondered.
"I don't know." Kevin shook his head. "She ran and hid and got lucky."
"Sirens could've scared the offenders off. Patrol got here real quick." Kim shrugged.
The older man just grunted in response.
"Well, that's one good thing." Ana murmured.
"All right, dig in." Hank ordered. "PODs, door-cams, get with forensics."
"Kev, head on over to Med and talk to the wife." The brunette instructed, gently.
"Okay." He nodded, rushing towards the doorway with Kim right behind him.
The two Officers disappeared from sight, leaving their Sergeants alone with the body and each other.
*District 21: Bullpen: A Few Hours Later*
"Wealthy is an understatement. Brent Landry, founder of Ridgehelm Capital, top real estate developer." Kevin informed, taping a picture of their victims up to the whiteboard before turning to face the rest of the team. "Net worth. . . only 60 million."
"And the wife?" Adam inquired from where he was standing between Kim seated at his desk and Hailey at hers.
"From Lakeview." The bonde replied. "Uh, owns Landry Interiors. It's a boutique interior design firm."
"Okay, so they knew they were hitting a big score." Hank summarized while pacing in front of his wife a bit.
"Do we have any footage?" Ana wondered, shifting a bit on a corner of her desk.
"Yeah, two offenders." Kim spoke up, taping the spacebar on Adam's computer and everyone watched as a video began playing. "All clad in black, moved camera-conscious, like pros."
The gate suddenly slammed down below and everyone looked over to see Jay rushing in.
"Hey, we are not the only ones working in the Gold Coast. I just talked to Robbery/Homicide. They have a two-man robbery crew." He revealed, holding up a file while making his way over to his desk.
