PROLOGUE

I sat there shivering against the wall in my closet. I knew he was there. How did I know? I don't know, I just knew.

He was out in the hallway. slowly walking as if he was stuck in somekind of slow motion trance. He was out there but not all the way. I felt like I knew him, like we were somehow related. I shook this feeling knowing that it couldn't be true.

The closer he got, the colder I got. All the painful memories of my past started to come up and it took all my will power not to start crying. the energy in the room also began to decrease. I started getting light headed and had to force myself to not pass out.

I tried my best to slip into the shadows and become next to invisible. I knew my door was locked but I doughted that would keep him out. my foster parents were probably soft asleep and although I thought about running to there room I decided againt it. I thought that would only put them in danger. They were my longest foster family about 6 months. I owed it to them not to put them in danger.

It dawned on me a second later that I might have to fight him. This had not came to mind earlier. I looked around for anytging I could use as a weapon.

After a few minutes of thinking over these scenarios I heard the fire of a gunshot. I jumped out of my closet, grabbed a bag, and ran.
