CHAPTER ONE | STRANGER DANGER

When Natalia's old friend from university, Sergio, told her not to come to Colombia, not to take the work opportunity and free vacation, and specifically not to go to his family-owned club, how could she say no? Natalia was never one to take orders well, especially when it was a man who gave them. That's precisely why she chose to work under a woman-owned company. That, and the fact that the very woman who was her boss was also a close friend of hers.

In Natalia's opinion, it was all his fault that she was standing there in front of the club in her silky short red dress, red bottom heels, and a red lip. If he hadn't given her the order to begin with, she might not have decided to visit the club.

She had heard a lot about La Noche. It was a world-renowned club, after all. That and it was all Sergio raved about during university breaks. It had been about high time that she crossed the destination off her bucket list. Besides, it was about time that she left New York City and the looming presence of her creepy ex. And what better way to do that than by getting involved with a total stranger?

Grinning, Natalia pulled out her phone and snapped a photo of the glowing calligraphy spelling out La Noche ever so elegantly before finally stepping into the club as she pettily sent the message to Sergio, just to spite him. After all, he had refused to take her to the club during their college years despite her begging.

The place was as immaculate as he had said it was. It had two stories. The first had a seating area to the side where people could reserve a table and drink, a bar in the middle of her right side, and an open floor to dance on, a DJ constantly pulling out tunes to dance to. If it hadn't been for the seeming light show happening on the first floor, she wouldn't even have noticed the glare against the glass-enclosed mezzanine and the staircase that led up to it.

Straight away, Natalia approached the bar, ordering three tequila shots and chugging them in rapid succession. She felt the fiery liquid ignite a thrilling warmth within her that beckoned her eyes to the inviting dance floor. She'd always found something so hypnotizing about music.

Fueled by liquid courage, she confidently stepped onto the pulsating dance floor before hitting the dance floor. Music had always possessed an irresistible power over her.

The beats reverberated through the air, prompting an instinctive response from her body as it swayed and moved in perfect sync. Surrendering to the intoxicating rhythm, her hands traced the curves of her body, each movement amplified by the tequila shots coursing through her, intensifying the moment with an electric surge of exhilaration.

Amid the crowd, hands occasionally brushed against her hip or grazed her skin, but she shrugged off these fleeting contacts, nonchalantly refusing to let them disrupt her immersion in the reverberating melodies. The spellbinding music combined with the liquor consumed her senses entirely, leaving no room for distractions.

Within the fervour of the moment, a giggle escaped Natalia's lips, fueled either by the potent liquor or the sheer satisfaction of witnessing Sergio's angered form stomping down the stairs from the private mezzanine. However, all laughter faded when a man, the epitome of handsomeness she had ever laid eyes upon, suddenly stood before her. His stare, dark and captivating, enveloped her, drowning out the world around them. It left her breathless, stumbling over her words, utterly spellbound by his presence.

"Hola," the handsome man greeted, tilting his head slightly to the right, causing a lock of black hair to cascade down his eyes. His voice, velvety and smooth, resonated with a captivating depth that demanded respect and echoed off the walls despite the loud base of the music, leaving her breath stuttering.
