"Walk with me."

Lorenzo only glanced at Pepe before continuing to gather his paper to distract himself from doing what he really should be doing. He knew what he should be doing was to gather his thoughts and get over what would've been the most meaningful relationship he'd ever had, a relationship of his own choosing.

He'd never wanted to be with anyone, never liked anyone and never clicked with anyone the way he did with Natalia.

It hadn't even been a day and he was slowly losing his mind, images of her smiles, her giggles and her dimpled cheek shuffling through his mind on repeat.

She left him.

"Let's go out. Get some fresh air."

Lorenzo only glared at Pepe. He didn't wanna go out. He didn't want to do anything. In fact, if it was up to him, he'd finish the other half of the bottle of tequila in his bedroom and go straight to bed.

He'd spent a decade working, doing everything he was taught to, told to, only for the love of his life to run out of his life.

He felt fucking pathetic.

And the worst part was that Lorenzo now knew that for her, it was nothing but sex. He felt stupid. After all, it was what she'd always said it was. He just hadn't expected it to hurt so much.

Lorenzo had never been shot, being too good of a soldier and a made man to ever be nicked by a bullet yet he'd rather be shot dead than to feel that type of heartbreak, to know that he wasn't enough and not know why.

Why did she go? Did he do something? He must've done something. He must've done something to deserve that pounding pain in his chest.

Pepe glanced at Lorenzo's office door, watching as his girlfriend entered the scene, asking through her eyes if everything was okay and Pepe shook his head. "I'm going out to smoke why don't you join-"

"Out."

Pepe flinched at his hostile tone and before he could ask once more, Josephine jumped in to his rescue. "You don't get to talk to us like that and push us away- Don't point your gun like that at him because he asked you to go on a walk with him and get some fresh air. You're not leaving until you go out, get some fresh air and recollect yourself, Lorenzo."

Lorenzo lowered his gun and turned his head, huffing. He wanted to be left alone, was that so hard to understand?

"I'll leave you alone after the walk," Pepe added. "I promise."

Sighing, Lorenzo nodded and finally stepped out of his office. If it meant he'd be left alone to wallow in peace, he'd go on that stupid unproductive walk. Pepe's anxious glances at Josephine didn't go unnoticed by Lorenzo, however.

What was going on between them?

"Josephine," Pepe spoke, patting his pockets in false confusion. "Can you grab my lighter in my office? I must have forgotten it."

Josephine smiled and kissed his cheek. "You always misplace it."

"I know. I'm sorry."

Josephine simply hummed in response before making her way back. Before Lorenzo could say anything, Pepe dismissed the guards and dragged Lorenzo away from watching eyes much to his annoyance.

"She didn't leave."

Lorenzo yanked Pepe's tight grip off his wrist only for Pepe to grab him again, eyes pleading with him. "She's gone."
