Natalia blinked. That was further along than she assumed.
"Do you have any other questions?"
Natalia shook her head. She'd already gotten her answers to all her questions, not that she had so many to begin with.
Lorenzo further forward, concern swirling in his eyes as his grip tightened around Natalia's hand. "¿Y el tamaño y la posición son buenos?" And the size and position are good?
The elderly woman nodded and smiled, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "Todo está bien." All's good.
"¿No hay señales de estrés?" No signs of stress?
Natalia squeezed his hand before bringing it to her lips as if to say 'I'm okay'. And she was. In the light of everything, she was actually well. It was odd how the death of so many people had brought her peace but it had. And as selfish as it made her feel, she'd decided to embrace the peace instead and lean closer to him.
Lorenzo's attention turned to Natalia, his eyebrows softening when she kissed the back of her hand once more. "Promise?"
She nodded. "I promise."
The doctor leaned back and hummed, looking over her numbers once more. "While there are no signs, I advise against stress, of course. It's not good during pregnancy."
Natalia nodded. "I'll do my best." Her attention turned to Lorenzo, giving him the side-eye. "Did you hear that? No stress."
His lips tugged. He heard it just fine. "You read, I take care of everything."
Natalia only laughed and rolled her eyes but once she saw how expression remained unchanged, she realised he was serious. "But I wanna go back to work."
He suddenly looked pained. "Talia."
She only glared at him. It was non-negotiable. She didn't spend years being educated to sit around and look pretty.
"We'll talk about it later."
She nodded and let her head fall back against the pillow as Lorenzo spent several minutes talking about dietary needs and whatnot. Most of the things Natalia already knew and she was reminded of her upbringing. But instead of feeling bitter, part of her was happy that she was knowledgeable on the topic.
She suddenly felt comforted by the knowledge she knew and the preventative measures she could take to avoid stress.
The woman eventually left, leaving Lorenzo to check almost every pulse on Natalia's body before pulling away once he noticed her glare.
"No touch."
"But-"
"And don't stress. It'll make me stress."
Suddenly he looked nervous. It was so laughable that she found a smile tugging on her lips.
"I'm fine."
He didn't seem convinced. In fact, he looked concerned.
"What can I do not to stress you?"
Not work.
Lorenzo opted for silence but Natalia had already caught the look in his eyes.
Crossing her arms, she squinted her eyes at him. "Not going to happen, señor." Mister.
