Lorenzo didn't answer, his eyes remaining on the sleeping Natalia as she drooled against his shoulder, a giggle escaped her lips. What was she dreaming about?
"You do realise how creepy you look, ¿sì?" Yes?
Snapping his eyes to Niccolò, Lorenzo glared. "Shut up."
"We landed twenty minutes ago." And he'd been staring long before that. "When are you going to wake her up?"
Lorenzo drew his eyes back to Natalia and smiled upon seeing a smile of her own stretch her lips as she snuggled closer to him.
"What, do you love her?"
He stilled, his eyes straying from Natalia back to Niccolò as his hand moved to the gun strapped to his side, as if to say 'Wanna repeat that?'.
Niccolò grew quiet as he stared at Lorenzo in surprise. After all, the older man didn't deny it. Instead, he became defensive. "No fucking way. Is that why you turned the underworld upside down to find her? How many favours did you cash in?"
Nearly all of them.
"Does she know?"
Scoffing, he shook his head and cupped Natalia's face, his thumb drawing over the faint bruise on her cheek, watching as she flinched, her smile dropping and her eyebrows knotting in pain.
"Did you kill him? Did you kill Stefano?"
"Not yet."
Niccolò leaned back against his seat and nodded in understanding. He wasn't dead but he might as well be. "And how's his family taking it?"
Besides the fact that Josephine had been crying about it ever since and Sergio refused to talk to anyone, depressed over the fact that he somehow pushed Stefano so far that he went against the familia. It was safe to say that no one was happy. Whether it was with Lorenzo, Stefano or both of them. But Lorenzo didn't care. He had the last say and his grandfather had yet to say anything.
"Alejandro?"
"Nothing."
Lorenzo saw as Niccolò suddenly looked uncomfortable. "Nothing?"
He shook his head. Nothing. Absolute radio silence.
"Has he met her?"
He scoffed.
Niccolò couldn't help but frown. After all, he knew what Alejandro meant to the familia. He might not be the don anymore but he was the godfather of the underworld. He was the man that everyone trusted and Stefano's slight ought to have angered the older man. Alejandro was known to make examples of breaking the code of silence. He'd killed his own son for breaking it. "That's not good."
That wasn't good indeed.
"Has he met her?"
"No. I wanna keep it that way."
