CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR | MATCHING

"I really like silk, you know."
He'd gathered as much. He'd first met her in that gorgeous red silk dress she'd worn. He'd noticed that she only wore silky pyjamas to sleep and always rolled around on the freshly washed silk sheets every Sunday. It was practically the highlight of her day. A lot of the clothes that she wore, that she favoured, were made of silk too.
He'd bought the silk dress because of this odd preference of hers. A preference he had himself. It was the very reason why he only slept in silk sheets himself. He too liked silk, after all.
"And I really like pink."
That caught his attention. "More than red?"
She finally let go of the pastel pink dress and walked into his arms. They were always so warm and welcoming and so Lorenzo. "No. But it's definitely up there."
He tilted his head in curiosity.
The action caused her to grin. She liked it when he was curious about her. It made her feel like even the small details about her were worth the attention of the day, and she didn't know why that made her heart feel so full. Around him, Natalia always felt so full. And she knew that that was more dangerous than his job. "Black," she stated, her gaze moving from his black dress shirt to his warm brown eyes. "Or brown. I've especially been liking brown these days."
The warm brown that swirled in his eyes whenever he looked at her, his eyes gentle with all the kindest intentions in the world. The playful chestnut brown whenever she teased him and whenever he bit back teasingly. And the dark brown whenever he was angry– although never at her – and held his black gun at his next victim.
There was something so dangerous about his dark eyes that reeled her in. But it wasn't his eyes that scared her. It was how much she wanted him despite seeing those eyes, despite knowing his violence and the result of said violence. She didn't fear his violence. Instead, it pulled her closer like a moth to the flame. And to Natalia, that was more dangerous than standing before the barrel of his gun.
Unexpected heat spread from his neck up his face, burning his skin as he pulled away from her, causing her to whine as she clung to him. He dragged her along as he walked away, turning his face away from her to hide how her words had affected him.
"Lorenzo," she whined jokingly, giving the man her best attempt of puppy eyes. "Please?"
Lorenzo groaned, pecking her lips before pushing her flat on her ass, causing her to tip her head back as she laughed, taking his breath away as he stopped and stared. Why did she have to be so fucking desirable all the damn time?
Mierda. He was gonna cum at the mere sight of her laughing if he didn't look away. It didn't make it better that she was wearing that red silk nightie again, knowing damn well the effect it had on him. Shit.
"Don't go."
Lorenzo groaned once more and glared at her. "Dress." Put the dress on.
Natalia stood up and took his arm in hers. "You didn't even let me finish," she grinned. "Besides black and brown-"
Another groan rumbled from his chest.
"I like blue."
So did Lorenzo as he stared into her eyes.
