Somin and Teho
After she overcame the ocean of students in the hall, an unexpected scene revealed itself. High-pitched noises were echoing from the distant corners of the foyer near the entryway. Hidden behind one of the huge pillars, Somin observed a crowd of girls swirling around an utterly gorgeous boy.
He's probably a senior student. Somin squinted her eyes.
The boy sat relaxed on the marble windowsill, one leg dangling playfully, the other one bent. Intense rays of light from outside covered the details of his features which made the scene more unbelievable. He paid only half of his attention to the group, a heavy, no doubt pricey camera hanging on his neck. His red, silky shirt with an expensively embroidered collar smoothly moved over his body as he glanced from one girl to another, teasing them by giving his attention in small portions.
Somin could make out distant shouts. "Oppa..." or "Teho-ah please..." she dared to get closer.
Teho... like the boy from the bathroom wall? Somin visualized the scribbled-on doors.
Pretending to be intrigued by the photo exhibition, she shortened the distance between them to get a better look.
These photos are really beautifully done. Her mind derailed. Her light eyes laid on the bigger format photo in the center. She examined the smaller ones surrounding it all over too. They were monochromatic with a slight blue tint, capturing the countryside. It reminded her of impressionist painting, the rough nature with unpredictable weather caught in the moment. Abandoned and yet in peace.
The biggest one showed a small wooden house nestled in yellowed fields of tall grass with rugged mountains peeking out in the distance. Twilight settled as a dark figure lay on the porch, hands folded behind his head. It exuded a very intimate and wild atmosphere at the same time.
Calm person, untamed nature.
The figure lay quietly.Maybe he's dreaming. She started to weave her own narrative for the picture.
The title of the semestral work read: Peace of mind.
Beautiful, I could use some of that now.
Somin got too caught up in the art itself, forgetting what was happening. The commotion of before got closer in the meantime and now the wave of girls was crushing her, bumping into her like she wasn't there.
