Somin and Junu

"... so I can go back and do more studies," finished Junu.

Everybody silently nodded in awe. The rustling of papers sounded through the classroom.

"Great work per usual Mr. Jeon. You can make it your semestral work," said Mr. Ha in a serious manner.

Junu went to his place on the floor, putting his hair behind his ear, feeling uneasy from all this attention.

I only wanted to draw, presentations made me sick.

Somin quietly opened the door and bowed. Everybody turned their heads to the intruder.

"Ms. Lee, this is unlike you, 15 minutes later? Do you want to say something for yourself?" Mr. Ha asked, his voice still pleasantly inviting.

The background came alive with voices and Somin clearly heard other girls' comments.

"She looks like she just crawled out of the dumpster," snickered one in the back.

"Look at her knees? Why am I not surprised?" Smothered laughing came from the right side.

"She could return there right away." A soft chuckle in the group on the left made a small wave.

"I would never have dared to come looking like this. What's up with her hair? Don't they have brushes at the dorm?"

Somin bowed again, this time at a 90-degree angle, and apologized, "I overslept, I'm truly sorry."

The old man nodded and showed her off to the usually free spot on the floor.

"I guess you must have worked overnight then, you can start with your presentation," the teacher said daringly and shot a look at the giggling girls with eyes stating a clear message.

Do you want additional afterschool work?

Somin threw her coat and bag next to Junu, sighed softly, and took off the blue sweater. Her cheeks were still burning from desire, the frantic kisses, that intoxicating mixture of Teho's sweet scent and breath. Burning from that unfortunate meeting with Cholsu and now from many layers of clothes.

Junu gave her a cheering smile and serious thumbs up. Sweet and kind boy.

Sometimes she couldn't believe he was only seventeen.

His chocolate eyes looked at the floor, then glanced erratically around and ended up fixed on a distant point. His shoes were off on the side of the room. A dark green sweatshirt made him look cozy, but he was still someone more presentable than everyone around him.

Somin caught a tiny glance of his drawings, overflowing with emotions and perfectly executed.

How can he convey such deep emotions in those small sketches? She couldn't understand.
