Mia and Kyumin
Mia came to the dance studio earlier again. Newly decided to fill up her nights with more classes as her "students" were too eager to dance. She was adamant to prepare and train as much as was humanly possible.
Good for me. Better than hanging around Teho.
The whole ordeal made her genuinely sad, but the discomfort she'd felt was worse. Pretending to be friends wasn't at all as easy as she had envisioned and looking at his happy, casual face, made her infuriated.
What was I thinking?
Ara answered in her head. You weren't thinking. If you thought more, you'd know that boys are good for nothing.
Ara's chin would be high up. She would make up scenes in which she'd denied a boy's advances with smug satisfaction. The tiny girl would keep staring intently at Mia from the forbidden headspace.
Not now Ara, leave me be.
Ara would furrow her brows and whine.
But Miaaaa.
Then she would lean forward and whisper.
That new boy is cute though.
I have to stop thinking about her.
...
Kyumin wore himself down between the dance classes, finally having the inspiration to work. Wanting to show Mia how he improved. That he was the one to watch. Best in her class no doubt. Practicing alone after all of the students ended their lessons and went home, sneaking into the studio.
He danced his worries away.
Then he was tired, but stress-free going to do his work again. The muscle ache relieved so much of the stress accumulated in his mind. He even cut down his daily beer to two cans in the morning hours and none three hours before his dance routine.
You live only once and why not be the best while you're at it?
...
Today the quiet boy worked extra hard. Mia noticed every minor change in his attitude, lowkey keeping an eye on the level of his drinking habit. Sniffing if it was present or not when she passed near him, but smelling only the peppermint tone of his shower gel.
The lean body moved sharply, silent as always, damp through and through from the intense workout.
Others were going away and Mia handed Kyumin a towel.
"Kyumin-ssi." She tried to break the ice. "I wanted to tell you I'm really proud of your progress, you're incredibly talented." She smiled kindly. Deep down she was tremendously happy with his serious commitment, being the kind of student she dreamed of having.
