I was sure of what I saw, but Chance obviously didn't believe. He looked in the direction I was looking, but I could tell he thought I was ridiculous.
"Bev, Kieyera is dead, she couldn't possibly be there." he said.
"No! I saw her! I know I did! She had the same eyes as I remember. Deep brown. With a hint of gold." I responded. "She was there!" he stared at my eyes.
"I'm sorry. I guess the news of her death did this to you." he muttered. I looked at him, and felt a flash of anger hit me.
"You think I'm crazy, you think I'm grieving. Well I'm not. Why didn't you tell me about her? Why didn't you tell me right away?! She was my best friend! She was there for me when you couldn't be!" I snapped. He gave an expression of understanding.
"I didn't know how to tell you." he admitted. He was soaked as well by now. I shook my head.
"You just didn't care. You never cared, about anything, about me!" I yelled. I turned around to run off, but his strong arm gripped mine. Stopping me and turning me around.
"You think this hasn't been hard on me?! I was friends with Kieyera too! I cared! Always!" he argued. He took a few breaths, I just watched him hesitate. "I cared about you. It wasn't fake." he finished. I felt my heart speed up within a fraction of a second. I stared at him. He pulled my arm more to pull me in to see his eyes.
"Then why? Why hurt me and leave?" I sobbed, luckily tears wouldn't be seen through the rain. He stared at me, giving me the expression he gave me in the video. A look that's indescribeable.
"I didn't know how long I would be gone. I didn't want to leave you with hope, and never come back, leaving you without reason to move on. I did it, to make sure that if I didn't return, you would move on. Find someone else." he explained. "When I heard about the vampire fest here, I volunteered to make sure I made it back. I knew you wouldn't like me being back, but I had to try." I just stared at him. Feeling the truth in his words.
"I was nearly torn apart when I found you had put up walls. Knowing that you would probably never forgive me ever again." he said. I felt tears streaming down my soaked face. He let go of my arm, and just stood there looking away. I tried wiping away my tears.
"I love you." I whispered. Through his vampire hearing skills, he could hear me. He looked at my eyes to see the truth. He reached his hands onto my neck and pressed his warm lips to mine. I've been wanting this feeling for so long. I felt like I should push him away because of what he did to me. But instead, I let it happen. Our lips seemed to go together so perfectly, it was like we would never have to let go. But I had to breathe. So we parted. As I gasped for air, he stared at me, but before another kiss could start, he quickly looked around. As if for danger.
"What is it?" I asked, snapping into vampire-slayign mode.
"They're watching us, you have to get out of here. Go!" he said. I knew I couldn't hesitate. So I turned and started sprinting to my car, but I was slow in the sloshy rain. I felt wind and then my feet were picked up, he was carrying me. He used his inhuman speed to rush me to my car. He put me inside and started the car within seconds.
"Go home without stopping. I'll call Ronin, he'll be waiting at the house." he instructed. I nodded and sped away. The entire time I could feel shadows in the dark. I just had to rush home, and hopefully make it alive.
