I ran back to Ian as quickly as I could. Chance could die! What if the rebellion was after him right now? What if they caught him while he was running? Then they could be on their way to the royals right now, to use him against them, again! I reached the tree haven and rushed in. Ian was sitting down, but once he saw me he stood up, with an expression of worry.
"It's Chance. He ran off." I explained.
"Why-"
"I told him about us, last night. Because he knew I was hiding something, and I decided to tell him that instead of his father. He got mad, we yelled at each other, then he took off!" I interrupted.
"You did the right thing."
"He could die! The rebellion could be waiting for him! They'll use him against the royals! They're probably on their way there right now! It was all my fault that he ran." I snapped. He pulled me into a hug, and shushed me.
"Then we must get there first. We leave now. We will not let him die, Bev." I sobbed into the curve of his neck.
"He called me a whore." I whispered.
"What?" he pulled away to look at me.
"He called me a whore, and that he regrets having me because I obviously never cared about how he felt." I replied.
"Now we both know that's a lie. You are not a whore. You just never really loved him, the way you thought you did. But I know for a fact that you do care about him." he tried to comfort me.
"We can't let anything anything happen to him." I said seriously. He nodded.
"Lets go, I know one person who can help us."
"Who?"
"My mother." he answered. He took my hand and lead me out of the haven, as we started running in the direction of royals hall.
--Killian's POV--
Chance and Beverly are missing....which leads to the conclusion they were working together all along. I should have known. Beverly never fell for my tricks, but she seemed to fall for him more than once. But there is another scent. One I can't recognize. Everyone was splitting up all night, and the trails they left disappeared. So we all waited for Kieyera's command, who right now is pacing vigorously.
"How could you leave him out fo your sight?!" Kieyera yelled at us. The others were all slightly scared, or ashamed. Besides Nailah and I. We were the ones who didn't care. Nailah was chewing gum, which none of us knew why, and I was just casually leaning against a tree listening to her lecture the others.
"We thought Beverly would just watch him, not take off with him." Corette tried to explain.
"Beverly is fresh into the rebellion, she is the one you have to watch over, never leave her alone with the prisoner, when she hasn't developed a back bone yet! Idiots! Now we have to go looking for them! This will delay our arrival at the royals hall, and delay our take over." she screeched.
"Please try to understand-" Corette started. But she was interrupted by Kieyera smacking her across the face. Hard, the sound echoed through the woods. Everyone winced, except me. I've seen Kieyera do a lot worse to her other followers who didn't follow through on her orders.
"No, you understand! Chance was the only shot we had at winning this thing! And you all screwed up! I can't have that on my hands!" she screamed. She gripped Corette's wrist tightly before throwing her on the ground during her rant. Corette kept herself down, she was hurt. Burrell went to her, and held her close.
