Sarah's POV:
We're all out on the balcony with punch, pizza, and pillows spying on our infamous neighbor.
Monica: "Lights still out?"
Me: "Yeah."
Monica: "Oh, maybe they're napping."
Rachel: "Oh, please. They're having sex."
Monica & Phoebe: "Shut up!"
Rachel: "So, whaddya think George is like?"
Monica: "I think he's shy. I think you have to draw him out. And then when you do, he's a preppy animal."
Phoebe: "Hey, what do you think the guys are like?"
Monica: "Our guys?"
Phoebe: "Yeah, our guys."
Rachel: "Oh, I don't know. I feel funny talking about that."
Monica: "What about Chandler?"
Me: "Oh, guys, come on. That's my brother."
Phoebe: "Well, Chandler's hard to read. He's like one of those repressed guys you would have to seduce."
Monica: "I think that's part of the act. I have a feeling that Chandler is a lot more sophisticated than he seems."
Phoebe: "You know who's kinda sexy? Ross."
Monica: "Ok, new subject please."
Me: "Not so fun on my side of things, is it?"
Rachel: "No, I know exactly what you mean, Phoebe. He can be really smooth. God, I mean, can't you just picture him in bed?"
Monica: "Really don't want to. Ok, what about Joey?"
Oh, God. Don't say anything. Just let someone else go.
Rachel: "Ok. Well, I think Joey's like one of those little kiddie rides out in front of the supermarket, y'know? You just have to put the quarter in, and it just goes."
Phoebe: "I don't know. I think he might surprise you. One time, he was helping me put on my coat, and he was really tender."
Me: *sighs* "Yeah, that sounds like Joey."
I zone out for a minute before I feel like I'm everyone's eyes on me. I look around to find everyone's eyes on me.
Me: "What?"
Monica: "You like Joey."
Me: "No, cone on. He's just my friend, guys. Really."
Rachel: "Oh, my God, You do like him?"
Well, no use denying it now.
Me: "Ok. What if I do? Chandler would kill Joey if anything happened between us. They're best friends, and I don't want to be responsible for breaking them up."
Phoebe: "Maybe Chandler will understand if he knows how much you care about Joey."
Me: "I don't know. I mean, after everything with Henry, I just-"
Rachel: "Yeah, what were you guys before all that?"
Me: "Well, we met in college through our roommates. We talked now and then, became friends, and then we were dating. But what I have with Joey now feels different. Like, even before Henry & I ended things, we were never really close. Now, I have that with Joey, and I don't want to mess it up over feelings that I don't even know are more than just a schoolgirl crush."
Monica: "Well, you've known each other almost a year. How much do you know about him?"
Me: "He's Italian, the only son with seven sisters, 2nd eldest out of 8 kids, and dreams of being an actor. He loves dogs, acting, and food, especially Italian food. He's kind, sweet, funny, handsome, and cares about his friends and family."
Rachel: "Sweetie, that sounds like love."
Phoebe: "Yeah, maybe you should tell him."
Me: "Just give me some time to think, and not a word of this to the guys. Then, maybe, I'll say something."
All the girls nod, when I notice something across the street.
Me: "He's back."
All three girls rush to the edge of the balcony.
Monica: "Oh, George, baby, drop the towel."
They all chant the same thin, like, three times before...
Girls: "Wow."
Well, I guess now the cat's partially out of the bag. All I have to worry over is whether or not to tell Joey and possibly piss off the only family I have in this city. I'm not saying it's worth the risk or isn't. If this is love, I might as well plan how and when to spill the beans. Till then, I'm content where we all are right now.
{Time skip}
Later, the guys return from the hockey game with quite a story. Ross caught a puck with his nose, spent the whole night in the hospital, and accidentally hit a nurse in the face with the puck. Now, Joey, the girls, and I are playing Twister with Ross holding the spinner.
Ross: "Ok, Monica, right foot red."
Monica: "Could've played Monopoly, but no."
Ross: "Ok, Pheebs, right hand blue."
Phoebe does so when Chandler answers the phone as it begins to ring.
Chandler: "Hello? Oh, uh, Rach, it's the Visa card people."
Rachel: "Oh, ok. Will you take my place?"
Chandler: "Alright-*over the phone*-Yes, this is Rachel."
Rachel nudges Chandler as he walks over to take her place on the mat with us while she talks over the phone. Ross tells Chandler to move towards one of the greens, but we all go toppling over as he tries. Joey's holding himself up by his arms, his face hovering over one with a nervous smile. We immediately rise to stand up, mumbling 'sorry's to each other. Meanwhile, all I can think of is...
Why did we have to stop there?
