WALKING INTO THE CHOIR ROOM, Mr Schue hands everybody the sheet music for this week's song. It was from West Side Story— something Rachel had been very vocal about singing since Courtney joined. The blonde was hoping to get a solo this week. That didn't seem to be the case, though. She was singing backup— again. It seemed to be all she was doing; swaying and singing background vocals for Rachel.

Frowning as she read the sheet, Rachel speaks. "Excuse me this isn't the right key."

"No, it actually is the right key," the Spanish teacher told her.

"N-No, this is the alto part," the girl denied. She was a star— she shouldn't be singing some lowly alto part. That was for bossy cheerleaders or sad emos; basically anyone but her.

"Yep. Tina's doing the solo," Mr Schue clarified. The girl in question straightened up, happy to get her first solo. Courtney gave her a pat on the back in congratulations, the younger girl giving her a smile in thanks. Courtney may not have gotten the solo this time, but she was sure there would be other chances for that in the future. Oh how incorrect you are, Courtney.

"I'm sorry. There must've been some mix-up. I thought I made it clear that anything from West Side Story goes to me," Rachel whines, pointing to herself. "Maria is my part! Natalie Wood was a Jew, you know," she continued, turning to look at her fellow club members for support. Nobody gave her any. She's the only member of the glee club who has had solos (besides Finn, but he's had to share the spotlight with Rachel so that doesn't count). Everybody else? Just stand in the back and sway.

"I've had a very deep, personal connection to this role since the age of one!" the girl exclaimed. She was trying to get everybody to sympathize with her. This role is clearly meant for someone great— someone like her. Courtney rolled her eyes. Rachel is such a soil sport, couldn't she just be happy for Tina?

"Well, I'm trying to shake things up a bit. Trying to get us out of our boxes," their choir teacher defended.

"You're trying to punish me," Rachel concluded. In her mind, that was the only reason Mr Schue would hand someone else a role that she claimed was hers since the beginning. She understood that she bruised his ego, but that wasn't an excuse to take away her solo.

What a way to make this about yourself, Rachel.

"You're being irrational," Mr Schue told her.

"I think you're being unfair," the brunette shot back.

"I think you're being unfair to Tina, who might be happy getting her first solo," the man replies, pointing at the Asian, who was currently eating a lollipop Courtney gave her. The blonde had offered her one when she noticed Tina's sunken expression, telling her that she shouldn't listen to what Rachel had to say because she was just jealous.
