WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN INTRO to Courtney's music turned into a five-hour karaoke session. Adam was impressed with Pretty Hurts, prompting Courtney to show him her other original songs. Soon after, they progressed into singing Taylor Swift songs.
Yes, Adam Young is a massive Swiftie. So is Courtney, but we already knew that.
It was two in the morning by the time their impromptu jam session was over. So, being the responsible adult he is, Adam drove Courtney to her accommodation. He promised her they would meet again on Monday, which was two days away.
The two-day break would give Courtney just enough time to meet up with Jesse.
Jesse. How Courtney had missed him. She missed his smile, his hugs, his kisses. She's missed his everything. It didn't help that they haven't had their nightly calls in a while— Jesse's been busy with exams.
And so, the moment she could, Courtney decided to give her boyfriend a call.
Ring... Ring... Ring...
"Hello?" came the rough and groggy voice of Jesse St James.
Courtney smiled softly. "Hey, pretty boy," she greeted.
As soon as he heard her sweet voice through his phone speaker, the curly-haired teenager was wide awake. "Little love!" he exclaimed, "Sorry I haven't been calling for a while. Exam week has been kicking my ass."
"Don't even worry about it. I've been just as busy as you have. With the start of the new school year, the glee club, and the Cheerios, I haven't had the chance to sit and relax," the blonde sighed. "Besides, you should never apologise to me about being busy, okay? I'm always going to be here waiting for you."
Jesse groaned. "Ah! You're too good to me, little love. Are you even real?"
"I am," Courtney giggled. "And just to prove how real I am, how about you come to meet me tomorrow? It'll be a nice break for the both of us," she bargained.
Jesse was confused. "Meet you? How are we supposed to meet if you..."
And then it clicked.
"Are you here in Los Angeles, Courtney?" he exclaimed, his eyes lighting up in excitement. "When did your flight get in? Why didn't you tell me? I could've picked you up from the airport, you know," he rambled, bombarding the girl with questions.
Courtney giggled. "Calm down, Jesse. I'm here to record my album," she said. "You don't have to pick me up, either. Sally set me up with a driver when I landed."
Then came Jesse's rambling again. "Oh, we can see each other in person again! No more of that stupid pixelated camera. Oh my God. I can kiss you again. I'll pick you up tomorrow at ten, okay? I have to go now. My roommate is calling me."
