I was woken up by the sound of talking. I raised up from the floor like a vampire in a coffin. I see Jo and Meg standing at the door. "What is going on?" I rubbed my eyes to adjust them to the light.
Jo smiled at me and helped me form the floor. I fixed my gown, making sure nothing was showing before my attention was back on them. "We are planning to watch a movie, but we don't want Amy to hear. Sorry if we woke you." Meg answered with a smile.
"Oh, sounds wonderful. Why would you not want Amy to hear? I think she would enjoy going to the movies too."
They always excluded Amy and I felt bad for her. Amy was young, but she was so sweet. She may have her tantrums, but she is fun to be around. Jo just hates her because she is her younger sister. All siblings go through that stage.
"You can join if you'd like, but Amy is to stay home. Laurie will be staying too because he has fallen ill."
"Oh my. I do hope he is okay." I looked around and back at the two girls. "I think I'll stay with Amy, but we should plan something again and we all go. No leaving out someone just because you think they're annoying."
"You're always so nice." Jo shook her head and took Meg by the arm, pulling her away. She looked at me with a smile before allowing herself to follow Jo. When I heard the door close, I began picking up the room, placing things where they needed to be. I picked up the extra blankets and folded then. I placed them in the open closet and turned to look at the room. Everything was put where it was meant to be and the bed was made. I began walking out of the room when I heard coughing from afar.
I walked to the room down the hall and stopped when I seen a sick Laurie laying in his bed. His face was pale and it looked like he was sweating up a storm. I walked in and helped him raise his head up to the pillow. He didn't look at me at first until I lightly placed my hand on his forehead. "Oh. You're burning up. I'll go get you some soup."
I rushed into the kitchen, my gown still on and my heart racing. "What seems to be the problem?" father March asked as I got everything ready to make a small bowl of soup.
"Well, Laurie is very sick and I thought I'd make him some soup. We should maybe call a doctor because he is running a fever and sweating so much, his pillow is soaked." I began putting some soup into the pot and started mixed it together. Father March stood beside me and looked inside the pot. He took a big sniff and nodded his head. "Smells wonderful."
I smiled. "Thank you. Mother used to make it for me as a kid. I am just grateful you guys had all the ingredients."
"Maybe you should tell Marmee that recipe because it is amazing."
I laughed. "I will think about it. Can you hand me that bowl?"
He nodded and arched for the bowl, hovering it over the pot. As the soup got done, I put one spoon full in the bowl and took it from him. "There is more left if you'd like it." I smiled and walked back to Laurie's room. I placed the bowl on the small table and sat on the edge of the bed. He moved a bit to give me room. I picked up the bowl and picked up the spoon with some soup in it. "Now, I am going to fed you, but only because I want our delivery boy to be well."
