I walk through the small hallway of Marmee's house as I rush to find Annemarie. Marmee and Father March had gone on a small trip and asked me to look over the house. Jo went along with them. I wasn't sure what had been going on with Jo, but she seemed to be avoiding me. Maybe I was looking too much into it but it just seemed that way. Amy was helping me by looking for Ashton while Beth looked for Lincoln. We decided to play hide and seek which now I began to regret it. They were always good at it.
I walked into a room and looked around. When I was about to walk out, there was a small knock close by. I turned around and looked at the closed closet. Annemarie loved hiding in closets, which I didn't understand why I didn't think of it sooner. I slowly walked in front of the door and placed my hand on the doorknob. I began counting down in my head when I swung open the door and seen Annemarie smiling at me.
"Ha! Found you!" I yelled and bent down to pick her up. She was most definitely getting bigger and I could tell she was going to be beautiful. "Want to help mommy find Ashton and Lincoln?"
She nodded her head. "Yes!" I smiled and placed her down on the floor. She began running around, trying to help us find them. I could see Lincoln in a good hiding spot with his book and a small light source. So I began looking in small places with any sort of light source.
I stopped when I found a small space I had never really noticed before. I bent down and looked into a small crack under the staircase. I knocked and heard some rustling inside. I pushed on the wood and there opened a small door. I looked inside and seen Lincoln with a lantern and some books. It looked like he claimed this place for himself. Which I would've done the same thing. I smiled and bent down on the floor.
"This is such a good place to read until you hear footsteps coming up and down." I admitted.
He shrugged. "I am very good at blocking it all out."
I laughed. "You sure are. Want to help us find Ashton?"
He shook his head. "It's a simple hiding spot. I won't tell you where he is because it ruins all the fun."
I smiled and stood up. "Well, I shall leave you to it." He smiled at me before I closed the small door. He always found the weirdest places.
I went to the first stair when there was a knock at the door. "I got it!" I yelled and turned back around to face the door. I made my way to the doorknob and opened it. There stood a cold and shivering Laurie. I smiled and moved out of the way to allow him in. I closed the door and turned to him. "Is everything alright? Come to the fireplace. You must be freezing."
I led him to the fireplace where I turned around and looked at him. He wore a white shirt under a black vest. The light from the snow outside radiated off of him perfectly.
"Nothing is wrong. I just thought I would come and check on you. I heard Marmee and Father March went out."
I smiled and shook my head. "How odd. People really know how to get things around."
