Waking up in the morning seemed normal

Waking up in the morning seemed normal. I would get up and change out of my gown and into an old orange dress my mom had stored away so long ago. I stumbled upon it when we moved. It had dust all over it, so I had to hand wash it then wait until it dried before I got to wear it. I was surprised it still fit. I patted it down with my hands and looked at myself in the mirror. My hair always looked black during the seasons of fall and winter. I really didn't like it.

I made my way downstairs and put on some shoes before making my way to the March family's household. As I knocked on the door, I heard girls yelling as they rushed to the door. I was met with a smiling Amy and a screaming Jo. She stopped screaming once she seen me standing there. I smiled and bowed my head the slightest bit. "I am a bit late, but I have made it."

"Oh, don't worry. Marmee isn't ready and Laurie hasn't arrived yet. We have a few minutes to spare. Come in!" Amy exclaimed happily.

I smiled and walked my way into the house. I took off my shoes and placed them beside the door like I always do. I followed both Amy and Jo up the stairs and into the small attic room. I took my seat beside the large couch and smiled up at Jo who was pacing back and forth with a book in her hand. "What are you pondering about, Jo?"

She sighed and closed her book, flopping herself onto the couch beside me. I shifted my body to go towards her as she laid there dramatically.

"She is forced to go to the ball and read books about being a proper woman so she doesn't embarrass herself at the ball." Amy smiled as I looked at her. I smiled back at her before looking at Jo.

"Maybe you're being a bit dramatic. Balls are parties that women get invited to because men need us in their life to be complete. Without us, men have no purpose. That is why they are so desperate to marry so soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole party is kissing your feet when you arrive." Jo slowly got up and looked at me. "You're a very likable person, Jo."

"I don't think I want weird men kissing at my feet. That would make things ten times worse, but I suppose you're right. Without us, what do men have? They wouldn't be able to do half the things we do for them." She stood up from the couch. "We must show them who is boss!"

I laughed as she clinched her fist and made a dramatic face, like she was in some action packed book. She looked like how they described it too. I looked at the stairs as the attic door opened. Laurie's head popped up, smiling at everyone around.

"Hi Laurie!" Amy seemed happy to see him. I was glad to see her happy.

"Hi Amy, Jo, Alex." He made his way up the stairs and closed the door. He dusted off his nice close and put his hands behind his back. "May I ask why we are just sitting up here? Don't we have dress shopping to do?"

"Marmee isn't ready. Once she calls for us, we shall go, but for now, we must talk about the ball and how we will show everyone just how powerful we can be." Jo was determined. That is what I liked about her.
