I walk down the snowy town sidewalk, trying to look for the simple little office Mary had told me about. I was looking down, making sure I didn't fall while making sure I didn't bump into anyone.
Laurie and this kids were still asleep. I had woken up early to do some errands before they woke up. I knew Laurie would have a headache and the kids would be hungry, so I made a list and went about my way. I decided now would be a good time to see Mary about my writing. It was blur last night, but I remember this woman faintly. She was beautiful in a way. She looked expensive and seemed well mannered. I don't usually don't think twice when meeting people so she could possibly kill me without a reasoning. Or maybe I did do something and this is her chance to take action on them.
I shook my head and continued my way downtown. Once I arrived at the end, I looked around until I seen a small building with what seemed to be one single room. I looked like it could fit a toilet in it, but it wasn't all that big. There wasn't a sign telling you what it is so most people probably thought it was abandoned. I don't think I had ever recognized it until now. I looked around for a moment before making my way inside. Right when I walk in, the smell of lavender burst through my senses. The place was warm and kind. There were two single chairs against the window and a small front desk. I could see the golden bell on the counter. I walked up to it and pushed it down. A ding filled the room and I waited.
My nerves were everywhere and I wish that I had gotten everything I needed before arriving here. I stopped for bread from Alex, but that was about it. I still needed meat and cheese and some milk. Possibly some medicine if they happen to have some. We've been running low lately due to people's sickness. Winter is always the worst season. Spring just brought sinuses. They went away faster than sickness.
There was a moment of silence until I heard some footsteps. "I'm coming dear!" Mary yelled from the back. She sounded like she was doing something so I looked at the chairs in front of the window and sat down. I was still a bit cold from the winter air outside but felt hot once I stayed long enough. It was much better than being cold in my opinion.
When Mary finally came out, she looked sweaty and like she had been working on a painting or something of the sort. She wiped her forehead with an old rag and looked at me with a smile. She was older than me, maybe close to the age of Marmee. She had her hair up in a bun. It looks a bit curly and was a dirty blonde. She had an old dress on that had different colored patches on it. She wiped whatever substances was on her hands before she took out her hand. I looked at it and shook it with a smile. I finally stood up from the chair.
"Sorry for the mess. I have been working in the back." She smiled.
"Do you paint?" I looked at her dress then back up at her face.
She smiled. "I am trying to. It is a bit harder than people make it look."
I laughed. "Tell me about it. Alex and Amy do so well with it. I have many paintings on my wall from them."
