I looked out my window from my room, with Annemarie in my arms. I held her on one side while I held a book in the other. She was listening to me as I read the rest of Pride and Prejudice. I hadn't been able to read it since I had been more busy than usual. Alex had been over to help me babysit and even Ellie came over to help. I was thankful for them both and was glad I had met them both. Alex and Ellie took Ashton and Lincoln to fetch some ice cream. I was home with Annemarie.

A few days after letting them stay, I had given them names. They couldn't remember their names since they had been on the streets for a bit. They stayed in an orphanage but was getting mistreated. I wish I had known them long before so they wouldn't have stayed on the streets. Ashton was telling my father and I that their mother just threw them on the streets a year before. Even before then, they had to fend for themselves. Their parents weren't all that good to them and after Annemarie was born, they decided they didn't want kids anymore. I couldn't understand why you would have children then just abandoned them.

I wasn't sure why someone would just abandon them. I named the baby girl Annemarie because my moms middle name was Annemarie. She was beautiful and had so many dreams and I knew this little girl would grow up to be someone spectacular. I looked at her in my arms and smiled. She smiled back at me, making my heart melt. "You're so beautiful." I said and smiled.

There was a knock at the door, causing me to jump a bit and stand up. "Looks like someone is knocking." I smiled at her and held her as I went to the front door. I opened the door and seen Amy standing there with a basket of Apples and bread. I could see everyone else piling out of the carriage. I laughed a bit and moved out of the way, allowing them to come in. Amy hurried and placed the basket down and came back to me. "Can I hold her?"

I smiled and nodded. "Of course." I handed her to Amy and she took her into her arms. She smiled at her and went to the couch. I smiled before walking into the kitchen. Everyone else soon rushing to the house. I smiled when I seen them coming in. Marmee walked into the kitchen with Beth and Meg while Laurie, Jo, and Beth went to see the baby. Marmee grabbed my hand from picking up anything else and held it in hers. "How are you? You know since today is the day."

I smiled. "I am okay. Annemarie has really helped. So has Ashton and Lincoln."

She smiled at me. "You named her after your mother, didn't you?"

I nodded. "My mother would've loved her. She reminds me a lot of her because of her actions. She just radiates sunshine and warmth. It's something she always did, brought me a smile. Even when today is possibly the most difficult day."

"That is why we came. We wanted to check on you. It seems you're doing better than expected."

"I am. Alex took the boys for some ice cream and should be back soon. You can meet them also. You should go and see Annemarie."
