My phone buzzed from across the room, on the floor. It wasn't even facing up, so I couldn't even see the collar I.D. I couldn't even cheat at being lazy.
With a groan, I pushed myself from my warm bed and I bent down to get my phone. It was Scott.
"Hello?"
"Mitchie. How'd you sleep?"
"Fine. Get to the point," I snapped. A night doesn't change what happened between us.
"Oh...I uh...you want anything from Starbucks? I'm here with Alex right now but-"
"No. Thanks though," I said, running my fingers through my messed up hair. Today wasn't a good morning. And I'm incredibly tired, and cranky and although I actually do need a caffeine boost, I don't want to see him happy and it wasn't caused by me.
"Okay...well I'll see you later then?"
"Yeah. Sure."
"Mitch...hey. How about we go out to eat tonight? You and me. It'll be fun, and my treat. What do you say?"
I sigh. He's probably going to change his mind and cancel later. But I do have to give him an answer, and all I've wanted was time with Scott in the first place. Maybe we can talk things out...you never know.
"Sure...why not?" And for the first time in hours, a smile came to my face.
