Lena's POV
No matter how often I came to appear inside these halls, I would never probably get used to it. The lit walls will never make this place illuminated enough for me. I'm down for dimmed set-ups but for quite nights or romantic ones maybe but this place does not even just any hint of it. The cold walls like the stares of everyone sitting around this long table, can bring goose bumps if you're a wimpy person. Witches just like dark places I guess along with the absence of noise. The quietness is deafening that only the crack of scorched wood on the fireplace can be heard. Do they really call this a party? The food and drinks made the party legit together with the fancy witch and warlock dresses they all wear but these cannot be called some sort of celebration. Why did I even agree to attend something like this? Right the intel on the horsemen, that's that.
"Calixta, I can't say I am enjoying myself on this celebration. Though I was not fully aware of what it is you all are here to celebrate. I would like to request if you can at least give acknowledgement that we are facing something more terrible outside. I'm not trying to be a party pooper here that with all due respect." I commented with all politeness I can muster.
The coven was still silent but Calixta looked me straight in the eye with the coldest expression she always wear especially most especially for me, stepped out of the banquet table and rounded it.
"Our Supreme, we would just like to congratulate you that is why we gathered here to celebrate with a feast. To the union of two of the most powerful witches and wizard in this coven for marriage soon." OK so it was an engagement party. "I see. Congratulations to them I guess. "That's right congratulations to you Lena." Calixta said and this confused me. "Apologies though Calixta what's with the greeting as if I'm the ones getting married here. You should direct that to the engaged, I suppose?" I laughed a little as I asked to clarify what the hell she was talking about.
"Destiny can never be mistaken our Supreme. Maybe I should call out all the parties involved with shall we? Edward, would you join us please." Calixta just answered and as if he was summoned from far away Edward Hunt joined her. He immediately went to where I was seated and gestured me to take his hand.
I remained to my seat, raising my brows referring to his extended hand. "I think you should reconsider your greetings around me, thinking I'll ever give you my consent after that little chivalry you did earlier. What do you want?" I just replied sternly imagining Kara's possible response with a snort if she had witnessed what Edward was suggesting.
"I see. Then maybe I'll just need to earn my way there, of course Lena Luthor you're not just an ordinary woman to be swayed with that primeval gesture. After all, you are the Supreme."
I still waited for him to continue as he not stated his presence's purpose. "I know I have not informed you properly the reason for this gathering. So let me break to you gently." He just spoke that my patience was being measured for the non-sense he was speaking.
"Swiftly if you may I don't have all the time in the world. We are in the middle of crisis if you haven't noticed." I retorted dismissing his extended hand on which he withdrew out of shame most probably. He earned that after what he did.
"We gathered her tonight to celebrate our engagement Lena. I am destined to be your husband as for us to flourish the power you are destined with. It is our destiny Lena."
The way Edward told the news was never gentle in any way. What the hell was he talking about? Rage came in through me as I comprehend what he was talking about.
"What do you mean engagement? Don't be absurd Edward! I can't marry someone like you and the hell about fixed marriage. Lilian has never even managed to arrange me for one and now you're telling I have to marry you because of destiny. Don't make me laugh for this foolishness!" I said out of anger and stood up from the cold chair. Everything is cold in here despite the cardigan I got with this formal dress I chose to wear for this gathering, it never made warm. My engagement party? Are you kidding me?
