Chapter 3: Fly With You

LENA's POV

I am sitting in the office catching up late paper works since last week or I can say last year. I asked Jessie to send me some of the contracts waiting for my actual approval since last week but still I did not touched till today. I have left LCorp to Jessica for the meantime as I was out saving the world from Nyxly and Lex but it's time to lift it off from someone else's responsibility. Hundreds of people as my employees were in need of LCorp too I did not cared too much about the company for the past few months since I trusted Jessie's command over the board of directors. "Lena, hey please you just came back don't stress yourself already." Jess went in and I greeted and hugged my trusted executive assistant whom I know worth more of what she is accepting from the company. "Jessie, exactly I just came back and there were still a lot to look into. Glad you came in I just would like to discuss one of the contracts with Cobalt Tech but I will needing more slides from their presentation would you care to prepare that one for me?" I asked Jess wanted to start things as soon as possible. "Sure Lena, by the way you were scheduled for an interview with Catco around 11." Jessie informed me while she checked her tablet for my schedules on the day. "Oh, right yes thank you." I responded as Jessie went out from her office. I sat down almost forgot the Kara was not going to interview here anymore since she was already promoted to Chief Editor where fieldwork won't be necessary.

I decided to give the former reporter a call to check out her first day. I just can't help but smile imagining what Kara must be doing right now. She might be excited and nervous at the same. She may be Supergirl but she crams when she was nervous I felt my smile grew wider remembering my first encounter with Kara on this same office I was standing. I dialed her number which has her name Kara in the caller ID but with a heart emoji at the end. I know I look like a dork teenager with those emojis but with Kara she always makes my dorky side show even she is not nearby.

Two rings and she instantly picked it up. "Hey Lee, how are you?" She greeted me and I feel like my heart rate just cycle up a bit. She always does that to me but I always ignore that feeling till I don't make it much of a care. Though it never cease and probably won't. I went out to the balcony feeling the early sunlight and saw the familiar building of Catco not just far from hers. Kara's in there somewhere.

"Great had a lot to catch up with LCorp since I have been MIA for almost a year thanks to Nxyly and Lex." I responded earning a chuckle from her at the other line. "Yes we all know that was more than just an inconvenience. So why did you call exactly may I ask." Kara asked and I responded. "Well just wanted to check on my favorite reporter's first day on her promotion. How are things so far?" I can sense Kara was a little anxious on my regards to the promotion but I just waited for response. "It was great Lena so far I'm enjoying the office while I wait for my reporters' story to be passed. Really it was a big adjustment not making the story myself, you know going to the source, checking it in, talking and interviewing. Field days are finally over for Reporter Kara Danvers." Kara laughed and yes me too was a bit sad for her not gonna be the one interviewing me later. "Speaking of interview I think I got an appointment with Catco later by 11am. It was a shame it's not you who gonna asked me the usual talk, I'm sad but happy at the same time for you Kara. This is your break you deserve it more than anyone." I told her truthfully. I can imagine her smile on the other line. "Thanks Lena." Kara pause and I feel her gratefulness to my soul. "Don't worry you know interviews were boring, talk like this was better. Lucky I am your friend. I was wondering if we can have lunch later? My treat I don't care if you're a CEO of a multimillionaire company I'm paying." I laughed to her remarks. "If you insist, you know I have a soft spot for dorks who pays for my lunch." I responded playfully. "It's a date then bye Lee see ya later I know that window of yours were always open." Kara said her good bye, looking forward to our lunch date later and I can't help but reply, "Just for you Supergirl, always." Kara did not respond back and ended the call but I knew she was smiling.
