Oikawa wondered if he might go bankrupt this month or not. Looking at his wallet was now more painful than receiving a physics test back.
Nevertheless, the savoury snacks in front of him seemed like they were calling his name, waiting to be picked.
Oikawa needed to be careful about his choices. He had to pick something he enjoys but could also afford. Sadly, it was tough having expensive tastes. The snack of his choice had become a little pricier than it was last time. Fuck inflation.
At the end of his inner conflict, Oikawa chose a curry bun since it was cheaper than the milk bread he desperately wanted. Oikawa sighed.
- Hey, do you think you could buy the bread for me? - Oikawa called out to the guy next to him. - I don't have enough cash right now... again.
Oikawa's tone almost made him sound as though he was embarrassed.
Kuroo glanced at Oikawa, gazing upon the milk bread wrapped in plastic. The boy sighed out a grunt mixed with an exhale of carbon dioxide.
- Seriously?
- I promise it's the last time I'll ask you this! - Oikawa exclaimed.
Kuroo sensed deceit in Oikawa's words. Regardless, he groaned & lazily grabbed the bun & bread out of Oikawa's hands.
- Fine! Let's get going already before you make me buy the whole store.
Oikawa headed outside of the small supermarket & leaned on the wall, waiting for his friend, who was also his new bank card. A few moments later of aimlessly looking at nothing, Kuroo left the store.
He placed away the small change he received back into his wallet & passed the bread & curry bun to Oikawa.
They walked away from the store, heading back to where they came from, that being their schools.
- Jeez, what's got you so deadbeat? - Kuroo asked while trying to suppress a yawn.
- I can't deal with my physics teacher anymore, man.
- It's the fourth time this week you've complained about her, and it's Wednesday.
- She sucks so bad! I can't understand anything she tries to explain when she finally does her job instead of just reading the textbook and then giving tests after each chapter. I'm better off studying at home since she can't do more than read half of what's important. Like, nature of light? Quantum mechanics? What the heck is all of that stuff?
- But if you don't understand anything, how do you even study at home? - Kuroo took out the candy bar he'd bought.
The two continued to walk past trees neatly set up on the sidewalk behind old wooden benches.
- I mean, I barely get passing marks because I actually read everything that's in the textbook. My mum hasn't disowned me yet because I'm passing by with the bare minimum. Lucky you, you've always been naturally smart. - Oikawa's eyes darted towards the pavement beneath him.
- Oh, I wish I was gifted. I need to study until I can't stand my or my friends' rooms. I got better at history even though my teacher gives way too much shit to learn in one class session.
The hot summer wind gently brushed their skin while bright or dark green leaves fell to the ground, flying past trees filled with the same colour but with different shades.
- How? I thought history was so easy, and then I started high school.
They sat down on a bench not far away from Nekoma, placing their bags beside them. Kuroo shoved the small plastic packaging of his candy bar away into his pocket while holding a small yet proud smile on his lips.
- You said you have a tutor, right? Could I join in sometime? I'm getting bored with my mum's lectures.
Kuroo licked his lips, still tasting some chocolate:
- Well, my "tutor" - Kuroo quoted with his fingers - is just a friend of mine. Rūna'chan's a second year, and she's good at pretty much all subjects, and she's able to explain much more simply and thoroughly than most of my teachers.Rūna'chan?
Oikawa unwrapped the plastic from his milk bread:
- Really? - he groaned. - I'm jealous. Iwa'chan only tells me to do it myself or calls me stupid.- I mean, if you really are stupid, then—
- Shut up. - Oikawa whined, chewing on the bread.
Kuroo shrugged.
- I'm just saying! If you really are stupid, maybe my friend could help you out?- At least it's free, then. Tutors are getting way more expensive these days.
Kuroo scratched the back of his head, lightly squeezing on the plastic wrapped in his pocket with his other hand:
- Well... friends get discounts?... But it's cheap, I swear. It's only like— what? A hundred yen per session?- Seriously!?
- I mean, she can't just give her brain to everyone around her without expecting anything back! That's other students just taking advantage without doing anything themselves! She can't run a business without expecting something back!
Oikaw swallowed a bite of the milk bread:
- Gosh, I'm really going to go bankrupt this month.- It's cheap! You'll be fine! The first few sessions are free because Arū needs to make sure her teachings help even help you!
- Will I even have enough money for the bus anymore?
- I said you'll be fine!
Oikawa placed the plastic packaging of the curry bun into his pocket.
- What's your friend's name?
- Aikawa, but you can just call her Rūna for short if you want.
- Yeah, I noticed that. I wasn't expecting you, of all people, to call others by nicknames.
- Neither was I. Not sure where Rūna got it from, but she isn't complaining about it.
Oikawa glanced up at the sky. He assumed it would rain later today due to the abundance of grey clouds covering the blue azure & blazing sun.
- First name basis? Your Arū is that close with everyone?
Kuroo shrugged.
- Not really. If I'm being honest, Rūna is pretty reserved and doesn't like formalities, especially when the first years call her senpai. It freaks her out. - Kuroo chuckled. - It's like watching a cat get splashed with water.
Oikawa threw his head back, seeing people walk by behind him as his bones slightly cracked:
- Fine then... - he sighed. - Could your friend teach me? I suck at studying, and anyone besides Iwa'chan will probably be perfect for me.Kuroo finished eating his other candy bar, crinkling the plastic as he took out his phone.
- Sure. I can arrange a meeting for...?
- Tomorrow is fine.
- And what's the thing you need help with? - he pressed on his contacts, going to his private messages with Rūna'chan.
- Those weird... What are they called again? The maths formulas or something like that in quantum mechanics.
- Okay, Arū-chan says she's free tomorrow and can meet with us after cleaning time. A few of our friends will join you, and I'll be there too. I have a major mathematical formulation test next week.
Oikawa slowly & sadly chewed on the curry bun, wondering whether these study sessions might raise his marks or have him go into bankruptcy.

A/N: Lol, I know Seijoh is in the Miyagi prefecture & Nekoma is in Tokyo, but for the sake of this fanfic, we'll have to break canon & imagine that both schools are in the Miyagi prefecture.
