I frowned looking around. I was in a plain room. There wasn't any pictures, no art, no nothing. It was dimly lit and the bed was plain and grey. I frowned over at the full length mirror. The person in the mirror looked like me, but seemed a little older. Her brown hair was pulled up into a twisted bun, some of her curly hair worked its way out. She wore a plain confining grey dress, and a grey cardigan. Mom? I muttered but, her mouth moved and she frowned at the same time I did. I put my hand up to wave, and she did too. Why the hell- I dropped off, my stomach twisted. I heard feet coming up the stairs. The mirror. In Abnegation they weren't supposed to have mirrors in their rooms or bathrooms. They had one but you had to wait to look into it every so often. I shoved it into a closet and closed it before there was a knock on the door. Down in ten! Four? I muttered but opened the door, Four stood there but he was in grey, he looked how he always did before he joined Dauntless.
He nodded once at me and I frowned. What's going on? I asked and he frowned back at me. How hard did he hit you? He muttered as we went down the stairs. I frowned more. Four? Who? I stopped on the stairs my stomach dropping. Ah, good. I saw Marcus from the corner of my eye. We sat at the table in the kitchen. Marcus on one end, Four on the other end, it was supposed to represent that he was an equal to Marcus now, since he was an adult. I sat there not asking questions as he had small talk with Four, until it was turned to me. Today, when choosing, you think if everyone. You will walk up when called, you will slice your hand, and put your blood into the Abnegation bowl. Why? I asked and Four looked over and Marcus let this weird chuckle out. Because, you have an Aptitude for Abnegation. No. I said, I knew I messed up then. He grabbed my wrist. You listen to me Kacie Eaton- Let go of me. I said calmly, my free hand balling up into a fist. Whatever has gotten into you today, will leave this instance. No. I snapped before hitting him in the jaw.
Father! Kacie! Four snapped standing up as Marcus stood from the floor, and I stood up, against the wall. I looked at Four, as he stood in the way between me and Marcus. He was knocked out of the way, and Marcus hit me back. I landed onto the cold hard grey floor. I just laid there. We will have you in Abnegation, Kacie. There is no stopping it! I closed my eyes, and I felt like I melted into the floors
I woke up without a sound. I frowned as my body ached. And I felt it. I winced sitting up. Four! I called rolling out of bed, my left leg felt like pins and needles were shooting up from my ankle to my knee, where I had been shot. I rolled my shoulder blades as I stumbled out, still dressed in clothes from the other day. It had been two days since Eric had dangled Christina off the Chasm, and a day since I had gotten off of crutches. Four! I called again walking to his room as my head was pounding. What had happened to me? I never felt pain. He wasn't here. I got my shoes and stumbled down to the pit wincing the whole time. I had a field trip with the school today, out to the fence and Amity that I couldn't miss! WATCH IT KACE! Uriah yelled as he and Zeke were horsing around. I got nailed with whatever they were throwing right in my back, and I screamed. It knocked me fully over. I winced more as I shook my hands out. Are you ok?!? I nodded some. I never screamed. It shocked me. I said standing up, hiding my winces. Have you guys seen Four?
Mess hall, are you sure your ok? Yeah. I said before jogging off, but every step hurt my head, my back, my whole body. I got into the breakfast line behind Four. I gently touch the back of his side. He turns frowning and then down. Hey Kace. I'm dying. What? I'm in pain. What?!? Eric who was doing morning announcements looked over, everyone did. He grabbed his coffee, and grabbed my out of line, as I was getting a muffin and I managed to grab a thing of milk before he grabbed me. We went out into the hallway. What do you mean you feel pain?!? I don't know I woke up and everything is just aching. He felt my head and shook his head. You don't have a fever. He looked over. Tori! She walked over and frowned. What's- Kacie feels pain. She looked at me frowning and I shrugged before wincing. You're staying home. No! I have a thing at school! He sighed some and looked at Tori. What do you think? She should be fine, I mean if her body is figuring it out then she needs to get used to it.
