Chapter 8 The Calm

I woke up the next morning, curled up next to Eric. He was asleep and his arms were still around me. I tried to wiggle out of his grasp but it woke him up. He looked over frowning. Kacie? He asked mid stretch and still half asleep. He squeezed his eyes shut for a minute and opened them blinking. What are you still doing- here? He asked yawning. I shook my head still waking up, he used his right thumb and index finger to clear sleep out from the corner of his eyes. I found a book between us and I remembered. We were reading, so we probably fell asleep. I said and he nodded. You need to go, Four will be looking for you. Tobias, he doesn't want to be called Four too much anymore. He rolled his eyes. I know. I said standing I grabbed my stuff and started to the door. I stopped and looked over. Hey Eric? He looked over sleep still present behind his eyes and expression. Yeah? He asked, his left hand sort of ruffled his already messy hair. I stopped and shook my head. Never mind sorry. He made a face some as I went to walk out. Hey Kacie? I turned he smirked. If you want to, can you come hang around? I get board pretty easily.  I smirked and nodded. Yeah sure, if you want your little shit of a younger sister around. He smirked and nodded.

I slipped out and went to the dorms and slipped in. No one was there, so I thought I was in the clear. I grabbed a black tight fitting crop top, and a black pair of ripped jeans. And where were you? I jumped the oversized shirt barely covering my ass. Jesus Tori. I snapped as she hobbled forward sitting on a bunk. Well? Around. I said as I pulled the pants up and ran my belt through the loops. She frowned some at me as she knew I was lying. What? I asked and she sighed some. Well, let's review, you disappeared from the city after the attack, Zeke and I went and hid amongst the traitors to keep an eye on them, but also to see if you followed-I wouldn't dare. I snapped pulling the shirt off grabbing the tight short sleeved crop top. Then what happened? I was in Amity with Four, and Tris and the others. I said and she sighed some. So why did Eric, let out an article that you had been kidnapped? I don't know, because he's insane?!? Do better. I don't know what you want from me. The truth, Kacie. I frowned some and she sighed. I saw you leave the dorms last night, and you didn't come back, so if you weren't here you had to have been somewhere. I shook my head sticking my boots on. I was around, I'm sorry that I don't sleep because every time I close my eyes I see everything that has happened. I snapped before storming out.

I was heading down a hall, when two people fell next to me. Tori said you left dorms last night. I looked at Uriah and then Zeke. Really? Can the bitch not keep her mouth shut?!? She's ex Erudite, so no. I rolled my eyes. So, fake traitors? I asked looking at Zeke, and he nodded as we got into line for breakfast. Yeah we wanted to cover all bases. What happened to your hair? I looked at Uriah and shrugged. Nothing. Wait were you the one who stole Lynn's bleach? Shhhut up. I snapped lowly at Uriah and he pulled his lips in. I shook my head. You bailed from the meeting pretty quickly. Yeah I just- I stopped as Marcus walked passed and nodded once with a slight smirk. My stomach rolled. Kace? I kept biting the inside of my cheek. Nothing. I said as we walked to a table. I sat down and Shauna ran up. Kang is planning a meeting with Erudite. What? I muttered and she  nodded. We gotta go, meeting, now on what we're doing. The guys stood up. No Underaged! Uriah snapped as they ran off. I sat there looking at them as they ran off. I shook my head and stood up. I hated the fact they were leaving me behind. I didn't want to be soldier, but I wanted to be included on what was happening.

I managed to slip out. I went towards the tracks, the train got closer. I took off after it, I grabbed the hand railing and opened the door, and climbed in. I sat down my legs hanging out of the car as I watched everything go by.

A nurse had come in to check the stitches and also change the bandage and wrap. She was taking the bandage off when Cara ran in. She's gone. What? I muttered before wincing as she sprayed something on it. Who's gone? She looked at the nurse nervously and then to me. COD. I frowned mouthing the words holding a flinch in as the nurse put the bandage back on. Child of Dauntless. I muttered and then looked up. When?!? I snapped sitting up as they were wrapping it up, literally. Ten minutes ago, I checked around before I came here, but then I got the notice. The nurse left and I looked over at Cara. You lost Kacie?!? I snapped and she sighed. Look, I saw her go to breakfast I turned to get food and then she's gone. I winced as I stood up. Eric- hand me my shirt. Why? I need to get out of here. No. I rolled my eyes grabbing my shirt. They will shoot you the minute you step out that door.
