"Her laughter felt like my medicine she's so happy from just the small things."

Daisuke
"We're here," I say parking the car.

"Why are we at a park?" Nova asks confused.

"It's not just any park, this was the park we met at across from the skate park." I say.

"I remember like it was yesterday." She smiles in reminisce.

I know you're hungry I brought food." I say getting out the car and taking a cooler from my trunk.

I cooked a lot of my favorite food for her to try so I hope she likes it. We walk to a picnic table and I set the food down.

"You made all this?" She asks surprised.

"Of course."

"I got me a house wife for real." She jokes.

"Shut up and try it." I smile.

She takes a bite and her eyes light up, that's when I knew I did a good job.

"This is so good Daisuke, every time I eat your food it's always so tasteful."

"Thank you I really appreciate it."

"Honestly, I should get a kiss or something for my good work." I smirk.

She smiles her face bright she's so pretty. Standing up she walks over to sit next to me and gives me a kiss on the cheek.

"That's all I get?" I protest.

"There's kids around." She explains.

"And?" I ask confused.

"Remind me not to go to a park with you again." She laughs.

She try's to scoot away but I pull her closer keeping my arm wrapped around her waist. And she looks up at me with a frown. She was cute even when she was mad.

I lean down giving her a soft kiss on the lips, not being able to hold back. She kisses me back and I pull away with a satisfied smirk. We continue to eat with her praising me for how well I cooked everything.

"So," Nova says.

"What's wrong?"

"I know you told me little bit about your family but I don't really know what happened."

"Umm," I stop to think not knowing what to say.

"You don't have to tell me anything that you're not comfortable with; it's just I honestly feel like I know nothing about you." She says worriedly.

"No it's fine I want to tell you, I mean you're going to have to know eventually."

"The thing with my family is that my mom was always traveling because of her job as an aboard professor, she even meet my dad from her job. My dad was the best man that could ever exist to me. Until one night he came home drunk and ready to hit something, I was his punching bag." I confessed trying to hold back tears.

"Till this day I still haven't came to terms with the fact that he hurt me. Believe it or not I still see him as the man I want to be like. The part of him the wasn't a alcoholic was a good man he just wasn't there when he drunk. He made promises that he would stop but time after time I would end up with a new bruise."

"I never knew what turned him to alcoholism what was so bad the he had to chose alcohol over his own family and honestly I can't help but think it's my fault." I confessed trying to hold back tears.

"None of that was your fault." Nova says grabbing my hand her eyes watering.

"It doesn't matter now, he's dead anyways his drunken ways got him killed in a car crash."
