Kabanata 29 (Part 1)

"Mama, kailan po mag uwi si papa?" tanong ng anak ko sa akin ilang araw na kasing hindi nagpapakita yung tatay niya.

I brushed her hair before speaking. "Papa is working anak. Don't worry, he loves the both of us." I said softly.

I was panic when I saw my daughter's eyes glistened with tears. "Baby, why?" tanong ko sa kanya. "Mama, sana po sa susunod happy family na po talaga tayo." She said softly as I touched her small hands, my heart beats loudly I have a mixed emotions with hurt and happiness. Masaya na sa murang edad ng anak namin ay nakakaintindi na siya at nasasaktan kasi sa murang edad ay nararanasan na niya ang ganito.

Kinandong ko siya doon at hinalikan sa pisngi. "Soon baby." I told her sweetly. "Kapag naayos na ni mama ang lahat hindi na aalis si papa." dagdag ko pa at marahan siyang tumango sa akin. I spent my remaining days with my daughter siya ang naging lakas ko sa panahong nanghihina at pilit na lumalaban. 

My heart is in haywire and my stomach almost churn. "Do you trust me, love?" He said and I nodded at him.

Nagtataka man ako sa nangyari ay malakas pa rin ang kalabog ng aking puso. Tinawag na kami ng judge doon para muling simulan ang paghuhukom.

I walked with grace and I didn't even put a smile on my face. The prosecutor introduce the counsel of each side. 

"Atty. Chanel Athena Alcantara for the plaintiff's counsel and Atty. Barbara Reyes for the defense counsel." he started off. "Today we're going to tackle about the various cases against Irene Aragon and Diana Santos." tahimik kaming lahat doon habang pinapakinggan ang sinasabi.

Seryoso akong nakatayo sa harapan pero ang tibok ng puso ko ay sobrang bilis na. Itinabi si Travis kasama ang ibang witness para sa kasong ito. Malamlam ang kanyang tingin at bakas pa ang pagod sa kanyang mukha. 

Napatingin rin ako sa pwesto ng kalaban na mapag uyam ang tingin sa amin at lalong lalo na sa akin. May mga witness rin silang kasama at hindi ko alam kung sino ang mga iyon pero handa ako para harapin sila.

"On June 17 20xx Mr.  Carlos Alcantara and Mr. Alexander Ford was abducted by an unknown people. They held captive for 3 days and no one knows about it." I saw sadness on my father's eyes and Tito Alex's eyes. "Mr. Alexander Ford was shot and Mr. Carlos Alcantara's finger print shown up in the caliber 45 gun and the reason why he imprisoned." Napapikit ako nang maalala ang panahong iyon.

Tahimik ang buong court room roon. "The Ford family withdraw their funds to the Alcantara the reason why the business slows down at the moment. Then a fire incident happens which 'cause too much stress to Mr and Mrs Alcantara and no one knows who's the suspect behind those to open the said incident we are going to do a cross-examination to the victims." He said seriously.

My dad was the first one to call for the cross-examination. "Good afternoon, Mr. Alcantara." No emotion written on her eyes. My Father nodded at her as a greetings "You are business partners with the Ford, right?" She asked my father who's now serious.

"So, you two are in good relationship.'' Sambit pa neto at tumango si Daddy sa kanya. "Your relationship with the family started because of your candidacy but you slips off from it." She added. "Then, how did you two started merging your names?" She asked my father who's now playing with his hands. 

"Alex and I are friends for a quite long time before my candidacy. He's one of the well-known business man and engineer in our country. The reason why we decided to arrange our kids for marriage. Sa ganung paraan mas tatag kami pero dumating ang panahon na kinailangan kong umatras sa laban sa pulitika dahil hindi ligtas dito." I nodded at my father. "At doon nabuo ang desisyon namin na magsama sa pagnenegosyo tutal ay magkalinya naman kami." Tumango ang abogado nang kabilang panig sa aking ama.
