It was baseball season and William had been practicing for weeks. Today he had his first game and he was so excited. You were waiting in the parking lot for Billy. Eddie had taken William over to get ready for his game. You saw Billy's Camaro pull into the parking lot, dust flying. He pulled up beside you and climbed out of the car, lighting a cigarette. He had on a baseball cap and his jean jacket.

Your eyes trailed up and down his body. You couldn't help but think that he still looked good. "Hey, now. You're a married woman." Billy chuckled lightly. Ah, fuck. "Oh, shut up. Come on, we're gonna be late." you said taking his cigarette and taking a few puffs.

You saw Eddie on the bleachers and you went to sit next to him. Billy came to sit on the other side of you. Eddie wasn't a fan of sports but he was happy to come cheer William on. Billy wanted him to try out basketball in the fall but he was happy to see him playing anything.

The game started and you watched William focusing hard. Every once in a while he would look over and give you a thumbs up and a smile. He ran to third base his cleat barely touching the base before a kid tagged him. "You're out." The ref called. Billy stood up. "That's a bullshit call! He was safe." he yelled to the ref.

"Sit down, Hargrove." One of the other dads called. "Billy, it's okay." you pulled him down. "Hey, William. Do what daddy taught you." Billy called to William. William smiled brightly and flipped the ref the bird. "Jesus, Billy." you said rolling your eyes. Eddie laughed. "That's my boy." he said.

The game continued and you were all cheering him on. He was doing great and it was a proud moment for all of you. He was up to bat and he stood there eye on the ball, his little tongue sticking out. He swung hard and the ball went flying. All three of you jumped up to cheer and he took of running.

"That's my boy!" Billy called. "Go baby!" you yelled clapping your hands. "Let's see your kid hit like that Dennis!" Eddie yelled to the guy who had told Billy to sit down earlier. You giggled. William ran around and made it back to home. He looked over at the three of you with a giant grin.

Billy grabbed you and spun you around. "Hell yeah!" he cheered. You laughed as he placed you back on the ground. Eddie glanced over and you saw something shift in his eyes. Shit. You leaned over to kiss him quickly. He grabbed your face and gave you a deeper kiss than you had intended. "Get a room," one of the parents called out.

You went to the concession stand after the game to get William some ice cream. He was bouncing with joy, recalling different moments from the game. "You did so good sweetie," you kissed his forehead. "Little slugger." Billy said ruffling William's hair. "We're so proud of you, little dude." Eddie said giving him a pat on the back.

William said goodbye to Billy and the three of you got in your car to head home. William passed out almost immediately. You reached over and grabbed Eddie's hand. He gave it a squeeze. "You doing okay, with all of this?" he said glancing over at you.

He means Billy. "Um, yeah. It's been a little weird I guess. But I think it's been good for William." you said softly. "You?" you asked him. "Uhh...yeah. I think so." he said. You felt like he had more to say. "We can talk about it, ya know? If anything is bothering you." you pushed. He leaned over and kissed your cheek. "I know, babe. Everything's fine." It didn't feel fine.
