You drove Billy to his house and dropped him off, taking his Camaro back to yours. You would figure out how to get it back to him later but he definitely didn't need to come back with you.

On your way to his house he had asked if you would come to his mom's funeral with him. You didn't know what to say. You couldn't go to California with Billy, but he also had no one.

You kept seeing the way he was crying last night. He was hurting and it hurt you. But now, you had hurt Eddie too. Your Eddie. My fucking husband. Tears welled up in your eyes as you drove back to your house.

Breathe. You got out of the car, a cigarette dangling from your lips. I can't fucking breathe. You walked towards the house. The door swung open and Eddie stood there looking at you. "He's not here." you said quickly.

Eddie nodded. You sat on your steps and Eddie came to sit next to you. "Are you okay?" he said. Why is he so good to me? "Mhmm." you said taking a hit of your cig. "Eddie, we have to talk." you said looking over at him. His face looked concerned.

"Did he do something?" he asked you grabbing your hand. "No, I did." you said quietly. "Fuck me," he sighed standing up. "I don't wanna know." he said throwing his hands up. "Eddie..." "God damn it, y/n!" he yelled. "Did you sleep with him?"

"No... no I didn't." you shook your head quickly. "Then what?" he said his eyes burning into yours. "I just.. we... kissed." you stammered, looking away from him. "What kind of kiss?" his voice sounded defeated already. "A.. a long one. Eddie, I'm so sorry. Please let me explain..." you started.

"No." he shook his head. His eyebrows furrowed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Eddie, please." "I said no!" he shouted at you. "I don't want your excuses, y/n. I don't want to fucking hear it."

"Eds..." you tried. "I need a break." he said suddenly. "A break from what?" you asked knowing you didn't want to hear the answer. A tear escaped your eye. "From you. From us." he said looking directly in your eyes.

"No... Eddie please don't do this." you said your voice breaking. "I don't want a break." you said reaching for him. Eddie laughed backing away from you. "I don't care what you want. Not this time. I'm tired of caring what you want." he said seriously.

"I've been nothing but good to you. Ever since our first kiss, I knew. I knew you were who I wanted to spend forever with. But you, your heart never fully belonged to me. I tried to ignore it. But I always knew." "Eddie, that's not true.." you said but he wasn't listening.

"Do you remember our wedding?" he said tears forming in his eyes. "Of course." you whispered. "You promised to be by my side. To stand by me. Forever." he said. "I want to, Eddie. I want to be by your side forever." you said, your voice shaky.

"This isn't standing by me, y/n. You can't stand by me and stand by him. Life doesn't work that way." he continued ignoring you. "I... want you to leave." he said finally. "Eddie, no." you said standing up. He looked at you. He leaned in close. "I want you to leave." he said again. "Eddie... but William?" you said tears streaming.

"William will be fine. I've raised him. Remember?" his voice started rising again. "I was there through your pregnancy, holding your hair when you threw up. I was there when you gave birth to him. I was there when he was sick. I was there for his first steps, his first fucking word was dada. And he wasn't talking about the guy who walked out on both of you."

You couldn't speak. "So, please. Give me some space because I'm not okay right now. Go take your car back to your boyfriend and leave me the hell alone." his words stung as if you'd been smacked across the face. "I..." you tried. Nothing would come out.

"Yeah.." Eddie mumbled walking inside and slamming the door. You heard the door lock behind you. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. You put your head in your hands and cried. You sat there for forever hoping Eddie would come back out. He didn't.

Eventually you got in the car and drove to Billy's. You knocked on the door. Billy opened it looking tired. He rubbed his eyes. "Y/n, what are you doing here?" he mumbled sleepily. You just shook your head, tears falling. "Oh, shit." he said pulling you in.

Your head rested on his chest as you cried. "Come on." he said leading you inside. You sat on the couch and lit a cigarette. Billy covered you with a blanket. Your tears kept falling. Snot running from your nose.

"How about a vacation to California?" Billy said. "The plane leaves in a few hours." You looked up at him. He grabbed your hand. "I don't think I can do this alone." he said his eyes pleading with you. "What do you say?"
