Eddie was off work today. The two of you took William to the park to play. You smiled watching Eddie chase him around. Eddie was so good to you and to William. You felt sick for thinking about Billy. You felt guilty for not letting Eddie know about Billy coming on to you.

William ran up to you laughing, Eddie trailing behind. "Mommy, help! The tickle monster is gonna get me!" he shrieked jumping into your arms. "I'm not the tickle monster!" Eddie scoffed his hands hidden behind his back. "How dare you accuse me of such things."

"Let me see your hands!" William said squinting at him. "These hands?" Eddie said bringing his hands out dramatically and immediately going to tickle William. "I told you so!" William said laughing. "Stop, daddy! Get mommy instead." William said in between laughs.

"Good call." Eddie said reaching for you. "Hey!" you said trying to dodge Eddie's hands and failing miserably. "Eddie, stop! You know I hate being tickled." you said laughing. He continued relentlessly. "Okay, okay. I can't breathe!" you said squirming.

"The only thing that stops the tickle monster is a kiss." he said in a deep voice. You grabbed his face and pulled him in for a kiss. "It's working but I think I need one more." he said leaning in to kiss you again. "I've been cured!" he boomed and William cheered.

After the park you went out to dinner and headed home. You put William in the bath and got him tucked into bed. "I want a story!" William said. You walked over to the bookshelf to pick out a book. "No I want a daddy story." William said looking at Eddie. "As you wish, Sir William."

"In a land far, far away there was a Knight name Sir William..." Eddie began as you kissed William goodnight. You went to change into your pajamas. You brushed your teeth and washed your face. You sat on the bed brushing your hair when Eddie came in.

"And he's out!" he said coming to sit next to you. "He loves his Sir William stories." you smiled at Eddie and leaned up to kiss his cheek. Eddie looked at you with a look you couldn't quite place. "Is everything okay?" he asked you. "What do you mean?" you replied.

"Is everything okay with us? I feel like you've been a bit distant lately." he said grabbing your hand. You looked away from his eyes. "Everything's fine." you said shortly. "Baby, we've been together for 5 years. I know when something's bothering you. You can talk to me." he pressed on.

You met his eyes once again. He looked sad and worried. "I just.. I think things are a bit more complicated with Billy than I thought. I'm not sure if his feelings for me are completely gone." you blurted. Eddie nodded slowly. "Did something happen?" he said his eyes searching your face.

"No! Well.. nothing happened. He just said some stuff.." you mumbled. "What did he say?" Eddie said standing up. "Eddie it's not a big deal. I just.. I think maybe from now on you should do pick ups and drop offs with William. It'll be easier that way." you said hurriedly.

He came to kneel in front of you. He put his hands on your knees, looking up into your eyes. "Is this something I need to be worried about? Please be honest with me. I can handle it." he said quietly. "No, Eddie. You don't need to be worried. I promise." you said feeling a sinking in your stomach.

"Do you still have feelings for him?" he asked. "No.. Eddie, I love you. I'm so happy with our life. It's just been a shock to see him after all these years. And maybe.. I don't know. Maybe it reminded me of some old feelings but they're old feelings. They mean nothing now." you said realizing as you said it, that you were probably right.

He stood up and kissed you. "I love you, y/n." "I love you, too." you said kissing him again. "If he says something else, promise you'll let me know?" he said pulling you into him. "I promise." you said into his chest.

"I just want this to work. For William's sake." you whispered. "It will. Everything's gonna be fine, sweetheart." he said kissing your forehead. "How did I get so lucky?" you said looking up at him. He grinned down at you. "I'm the lucky one, babe." I'm a mess.
