You woke up around nine. You looked over to see Eddie sleeping peacefully, his arm resting above his head. You took a moment to really examine his face. He was truly beautiful.
You got up and climbed to the front of the van and out the door. There was a gas station across the street from where Eddie had parked. You lit a cigarette and walked across the road.
"Do you guys have a bathroom?" you asked the cashier. "Down that hallway on the left, hon." the lady said smiling at you. "Rough night?" she questioned. You looked down at yourself.
Eddie's hoodie didn't cover the rip at the bottom of your dress that happened from your marathon to his trailer yesterday. Your boots were untied and you couldn't imagine what your face and hair looked like. "Kinda," you replied before heading to the bathroom.
Wow. You looked at yourself in the mirror. Your hair was sticking up everywhere and your eyes were still puffy from all your crying yesterday. You looked like you hadn't slept in days. You tried to comb through your hair and splashed some water on your face.
You came back out looking slightly more presentable. "You want some coffee?" the lady asked you pointing to a pot on the counter, "freshly brewed." "Oh, I.. um.. I don't have my wallet." you said realizing you had no money at all.
"On me, sweetheart. I'm Deb, by the way." she said grabbing a styrofoam cup and handing it to you. "Thanks Deb, I'm y/n." you said taking the cup and pouring the coffee into it. "So, you wanna talk about it?" she questioned.
"Uhh, not really... I just.. my boyfriend broke up with me yesterday." you said quickly. "I see." she nodded slowly. "This boy, you still love him?" she continued. "Yeah, I do, but it's complicated." you replied quietly.
"What's so complicated about it?" she asked as the door to the gas station opened and Eddie walked in. This. "There you are!" he said walking up to you cheerfully rubbing his hands together, warming them from the cold.
"Coffee?" you said holding your cup out to him. He took it and thanked you. "This is Deb. Deb, this is my friend Eddie." you said turning back to her. She looked at both of you and nodded. "Nice to meet you, Eddie." she said, giving him a smile.
"Bathroom?" Eddie said glancing around. You pointed him in the direction of the restroom and he leaned over and kissed your cheek before walking away. "Hmmm, so there lies the complication." Deb said looking at you.
"Yeah.. well part of it." you said. She didn't ask you anything else, just poured you another cup of coffee since you had gave Eddie yours. He came back a moment later. The three of you talked awhile, drinking your coffee.
"I'm gonna go warm up the van," Eddie said, his hand on your lower back. "Meet you out there." you said smiling up at him. As soon as he was outside, Deb looked at you and raised her eyebrows.
"What?" you laughed. "I don't know about this ex boyfriend of yours but I can tell you that the way that boy looks at you is something special, he's something special." she smiled. Damn it Deb. "Yeah.. he is." you said goodbye to Deb and went outside.
Eddie had pulled the van up and you climbed inside. You went to a little store down the road that Deb had told you about. You needed some clothes.
"I promise I'll pay you back as soon as we get home." you said to Eddie as you walked in the store. "Don't worry about it, I have some money." he said. "I'm a drug dealer, remember?" he winked at you. You laughed, "How could I forget?"
You grabbed some jeans and a warm sweater. You saw a beanie and grabbed it too. This winter weather was no joke. Eddie grabbed a black beanie and put it on. He looked hot. You checked out and went on your way.
