"Yes?" I respond quietly to the knock on the door.
The doorknob slowly twists, Cassie peeks her head out the door. "Can I come in?"
"Yeah sure." I drop my pen and turn to her. "Is something wrong?"
"Eh, no. Not really." She responds hesitantly, letting herself in and shutting the door behind her.
"Any specific reason you came in?"
"No, I just wanted to talk to my brothers boyfriend, and perhaps give my brother a kick while I'm at it." She glances at karl, who's curled up in a ball on his side of the bed, snoring lightly.
"Oh," I smile at her, nodding my head for her to sit down on the bed and trying to ignore the comment she made about Karl. "What do you want to talk about?"
"I don't really know, why don't you start telling me about your birthday?"
"1st of march, 2001. Yours?"
"5th of September." She smiles. "I'm fourteen, 2008. I'm going to turn 15 this year."
I nodded my head, trying to shake my thoughts away.
Cassie's smile drops, she stares at me in fear. "What?"
"What do you mean, 'what'?" I respond back.
"You got... mad when I said my birthday."
"Did I?" I laugh quietly. "That's just my resting face." I lie, fidgeting with the pen in my hand. "What else do you want to know?" I quickly change the subject.
"Perhaps you could tell me about your family."
"I- uh-" I rub the back of my neck. "I don't know where to start." I say, letting out a chuckle.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."
I pause for a second before turning back to her. "I have a brother your age." I crack my knuckles. "Have, or had, I don't really know."
"What is that supposed to mean?" She furrows her eyebrows.
"I don't know if he's alive. I tell people he's dead, when I have no idea. He can't be dead unless something bad happened to him, he was a healthy kid."
"When was the last time you saw him?"
"8 years ago." I force out a fake laugh. "I was fourteen. I wanted to take over what my grandpa did because I wanted to 'change the world'. They dragged my brother away from me and I just never saw him again. He was 7."
"I'm sorry." She says, not knowing how else to respond. "Have any of your friends met him?"
"No. I've barely told anyone." I shrug. "Just you, Clayton and Anastasia."
She tilts her head, reminding me that i forgot somebody.
I nod my head and raise my hands to shush her. "Yes, I know, I haven't told Karl yet. But I promise you I'm going to tell him in these few days. I was going to tell him 2 days ago, but we were busy with you. I came home to find him crying so I never got the chance to talk to him properly."
"You better tell him soon."
"Nothing to worry about, I will." I turn back to my notebook. "What else do you want to know?" I say without looking at her.
"How did you and Karl meet? How do you know each other?"
I laugh as I remember seeing him for the first time. I remember exactly how he looked. "We met at a club. I saw him once from across the room and I knew I was in love with him." I blush at the thought. "I came back the next day, it felt like a miracle when I saw him again. I was filled with so much joy, I couldn't take my eyes off of him. The next four days were the same, I kept coming back to the same place and same spot, Karl was coincidentally doing the same thing."
Cassie smiles, grabbing a pillow on the bed and hugging it tightly.
"Then one day, I saw ana at the same place." I continue. "She was being harassed by this random guy, so I kind of made a scene, punched him, got kicked out and blah blah." I use my hands to talk. "Just as I was about to go home, Karl suddenly came out of nowhere and said 'that was nice of you'. I remember it all so well. I was so nervous to the point I, Nicholas Armstrong, was stuttering."
"Ewwww, for him?" She points at the sleeping Karl and laughs, smacking his bare back.
"Don't wake him up." I warned her.
She lifted the pillow in her arms and got ready to hit Karl with it, waiting for me to stop her.
"Cassie, no." I pointed my index finger at the face and threw the pillow away.
Cassidy scoffs, Rolling her eyes in annoyance and collapsing onto the bed.

I Jump at the Sound of a phone ringing on the nightstand.
Karl also jolts awake, rubbing his eyes aggressively. Cassidy still asleep on my side of our bed, snoring lightly.
I pick up my phone, not bothering to check who it is.
"Hello?"
"Nicholas," Someone chuckles.
"I'm sorry, who's this?" I check my phone screen but it seems to be an unknown number.
"Someone." I can basically hear a shrug over the phone. "Do me a favour, would ya?"
I turn on speaker and shoot the confused Karl a glance, "and what would that be?"
"Give me my children back."
Karl slaps his forehead ans Rolls his eyes. "Excuse me?"
"You ruined my son, and now suddenly you kidnap my daughter and take her? You're not getting away with this so fast, kid."
"Fuck you!" Karl shouts from the other side of the room.
"Aha so he's there. How are you, my dear second son?"
"'Dear' my ass." Karl spits and buries his face in the blankets in annoyance.
"Watch your language, Karl. That boy right here is not a good influence on you."
"You're not my mate or something. Never call any of us again."
"Listen here, Armstrong." He clears his throat. "Those are my sons with you, I'm not just going to let you take them."
"Take? Your son is 22, incase you didn't know. He can make decisions of his own."
"Deadline is tomorrow, I will not hesitate to attack all of you." He suddenly hangs up the phone.
"Fuck my life." Karl whispers.
