A loud knock on the door suddenly makes me jolt awake, and I realise that I've been asleep, curled up into a ball on this armchair for over 5 hours.
I slowly open my eyes, the knocks stopping when I finally get to my senses, my eyes adjusting to the light and my body comfortable with any position.
I slowly walk to the door, confused if there's still anybody there or not.
To my surprise, right when I'm approaching it, the loud knocks are suddenly back, more like banging this time.
It kind of freaks me out, but my heart completely melts when I hear somebody mumble;
"Please open the door."
My cheeks heat up when I hear nick's voice, but my smile drops when I begin to hear him sob and murmur nonsense stuff between his cries.
I unlock the door slowly, immediately allowing him in.
He stares at me in shock, like he cannot believe his eyes, like he hadn't thought I'd actually open the door for him.
"Karl." He mutters, raindrops from his wet hair falling to the floor, tears mixing with the cold water all over him.
He cries as he sinks into my arms, crying into my shoulder.
I pull him as close to me as I can, struggling to shut the door with his arms wrapped around me, but I finally manage to do so.
I tangle my fingers in his damp hair, placing a kiss onto his cheek as he continues to cry nonstop, his clothes soaking mine, too, but I don't care about that.
"Calm down." I say to him quietly. "Please, calm down. Come inside first, you can start to break down later."
He does as I say, pulling away and kicking his shoes off, immediately jumping back into my arms again. I can't tell if he's happy or upset.
"Shh, it's okay." I try to shush him, stumbling back onto the couch as he falls on top of me, still embracing me tightly, sobbing into my chest.
and, hell, I've missed this so fucking much I can't describe it.
I inhale his scent, almost completely gone because of the rain. His hair has grown a lot since the last time I saw him, it grows so fast.
His hands run up and down my back, squeezing me tightly as he sobs, screaming at me about something but struggling to because of his cries.
"I'm sorry, love." I whisper, kissing the top of his head repeatedly. "Please stop crying, I can't bare to see you like this."
He doesn't seem to listen to me, though. Or maybe he can't get himself to stop crying. He starts crying even harder for some reason that's going to stay unknown to me.
"Nick, you should take a bath." I run my hands through his hair, running my fingertips on his head gently.
"I'll do that when I get home." He manages to mutter inbetween sniffles and cries that seem to calm down a little bit.
"You are home, you fool." I get up, dragging him up with me. "Come on." I nod my head to the bathroom door, he obeys with a groan in annoyance.
He holds onto me for dear life, falling onto the soft mat on the cold tile floors, pulling me down with him as he hugs me tightly again.
"Do you want to take a bath or not?" I chuckle, hugging him back.
"Can you stay with me?"
'Thought you'd never ask'; I almost said. I might've, if he didn't intertwine his fingers in mine, making my face go red.
