"Fucking kids." He mutters under his breath.
"You've got him locked up in here like an animal and you expect him to respect you after all this?" A female voice questions. "He's young, august. None of this is his fault."
I scoff, shaking my head. Are they talking about this so close on purpose so I can hear them?
"When all this is over, I'm going to sleep and not waking up for five days." He jokes, his tone serious but his words? Not so much.
"When all this is over you'll be dead, darling." Beverly giggles. "We'll all be."
"Where's your dignity?" I can practically hear him rolling his eyes, the scoff making it sort of obvious that he would react like that.
I can suddenly see the two from the corner of my eye, struggling to unlock the iron cell door.
"What was his name again?" August whispers go Beverly, I don't think I was supposed to hear it, but I guess I did.
"Hey, Zak." She kicks the door open with a smile on her face, a tray of food in her hands.
"Don't call me that." I say coldly, not turning my head to face the two of them.
She suddenly freezes, like she wasn't expecting me to say that. She turns to august in confusion for a second before slowly turning her head back to face me. "Okay."
August takes the tray from her, putting it down infront of me, more gentle than I thought he'd be.
"Eat up, I don't want no protests." He nods his head at me, taking a seat on the disgusting dusty floor next to me.
Beverly smiles goofily, taking her seat next to her boyfriend or lord knows what the fuck those two even are.
"Why are you still here?" I finally turn to him, blinking my eyes at him in confusion. I am not going to tolerate any more of their bullshit.
"I'm gonna make sure you eat." He smiles sarcastically, his pearly white teeth sticking out for a split second.
"I'm not going to." I hug my knees in my own corner, but he reacts quickly and slides his body closer to me.
"I'm not leaving until you eat."
"I guess you'll be in here forever." I sigh.
"What, are you feeling depressed or something?" Beverly scoffs sarcastically, her laugh dying down after a few seconds.
"Fuck off." I shove August's arm away from my shoulder, kicking his knee away from me.
"Happens to the best of us." He says with a deep voice, smacking me on the back, his blue eyes staring into mine sympathetically.
"What's bothering you?" Beverly asks suddenly, august chimes in and asks the same question immediately after she's done.
What is this, a friend application? An act of kindness?
"As if I'd tell you." I say quietly, switching my position so that I'm laying down on the disgustingly dirty floor.
"So something is bothering you!"
"Was it the Armstrongs? They suck, I know." August rolls his eyes, I can't tell if he's being sarcastic or not. "Tell me what they did."
"Who the fuck do you think you are, jacobs?!" I suddenly snap at him, backing away further into the wall behind me.
"Watch your fucking tone, kid." He warns me, finger pointed in my face but Beverly quickly slaps it away from me.
"Not like you're going to do anything about it." I scoff under my breath, pushing him away from me. They have the audacity to just come in here and get in my personal space?
"There's a lot I can do that you don't know of." He grins. I can hear him grinning. "I could end your life right here and right now, don't try me."
"Please do." I whisper to myself, letting my head fall back and slam onto the cold wall. "Why are you keeping me in here, anyway?"
"You're not going to be alive if he doesn't come for you in the next week." He shrugs, not seeming bothered by the comment he just made.
I scoff, letting my head roll onto the other wall with a smile. "Nicholas would never come after me. He would've gotten rid of me himself if I hadn't been here."
"Who said anything about fucking Nicholas?" He scoff back. "Not the bitch, the other one."
Aiden?
"What?" I suddenly get up, alarmed by his words. He's waiting for aiden and not for his brother? But why?
"I don't give the tiniest shit about the Armstrongs." He shrugs. "But, honestly, that kid, he's a dangerous one. He's insane, Zachary."
"He's not going to come for me." I mumble.
"Trust the experts, he will." he smiles. "You may not have noticed, but he's fucking crazy. For you, especially."
I stare at him in confusion, not sure if I heard him right.
"God, I hate teenagers." He gags.
