"What are you doing?" I laugh nervously as he approaches me from behind, wrapping a thin cloth around my eyes.
"Stop asking questions and follow me." He giggles quietly, holding my wrists as he slowly leads me forward, and I can feel the golden sun shining in my eyes even with a blindfold.
I can feel him stop in his place suddenly and drop my hand, his arms snaking around my waist from the back instead.
"Ready?" He asks as he unties the blindfold from the back but still holds it so it doesn't drop.
"I'm ready." I mutter, smiling to myself about the thought of what this could be. Not that I'm expecting anything bad from nick, I'm just excited for what I'm about to see.
I can hear him counting down to himself quietly, as he slowly removes the blindfold, his shaky hands struggling to do so.
As the cloth suddenly drops to the floor, I squint my eyes because of the brightness as I slowly try to open them.
A cold breeze suddenly hits my face, my jaw almost dropping to the floor at the sight infront of me.
The sun shining bright into my eyes, a golden colour. The view I can see when I look down, makes me realise we're standing on a hill, which is quite high.
As I'm scanning the view around us with a wide smile on my face, I turn to my side, and my heart completely melts right at that moment.
A string and a bunch of fairylights holding Polaroid pictures of the two of us together. Most are pictures from dates and special events, some with the rest of our friends and a bunch of them from nick's birthday.
I turn to him, he's still trembling slightly but he's got a huge smile on his face, a pool of tears filling his eyes. "What do you think?"
A bright blush suddenly spreads over my cheeks when I feel his hand touching mine gently, reaching for my pinky finger and intertwining it with his own.
"I love it, Nick." I pull him down closer to me by the back of his neck, he immediately relaxes into my touch and closes his eyes, holding my face in his freezing cold hands.
"I love it so fucking much, baby." I shake my head, biting my lip as I hold back a cry. I don't know why I suddenly feel like crying, I don't know another way to accept gifts and this sort of stuff.
"Karl, don't cry." He chuckles, like he also wants to cry for an unknown reason.
"You're literally crying too." I giggle as I allow one of my tears to fall and roll down my cheek. "Why the fuck am I crying?" I try to wipe the tear away but he does it for me, placing a kiss on my forehead.
"It's okay, honey. It's okay to cry sometimes." He strokes my head gently, one of his hands enough to hold the back of my neck inside his palm, his finger reaching to my throat.
He holds me like that for a while as our foreheads touch, the two of us enjoying each other's embrace.
"Love, are you cold?" I suddenly touch his hands, still freezing cold.
"It's summer, I'll be fine." He says as he gives me a small smile, yet I don't let go of his hands, placing them carefully on my waist under my shirt instead.
"Better?" I smile at the sigh of relief he lets out.
"Much better."
Though his hands are cold enough to freeze and get caught in ice any second, I'll still try my best to warm them up anytime. I'd do my best for him not to suffer, not in the tiniest bit. He deserves to be happy and healthy, always.
