I felt nervous as I stepped out of the room. I don’t know why. I should be over him. I love Steven and we're getting married! I mean I can’t believe what Mike did to me. That can never be forgiven. I don't know maybe he grew up.
“Hey babe.” Steven pulled me out of thought with a kiss on the cheek.
“Oh hey honey, what are you doing here?”
“I was bringing Makaylah so I can go to work remember?”
“Why isn’t she in school?”
“Mom. Career day remember? You said I can come to your job to write my paper.” She said looking up at me from Stevens side. I put my hand to my forehead.
“I forgot that was today!” She looked at me a bit worried. I lowered my hand. “Alright that’s fine just don’t venture off into patience rooms again ok?” She nodded. “I don’t want you getting sick.”
“Babe you like tired. I cant believe you didn’t come home last night.”
“I know. I only got a couple hours sleep in the break room.”
“You need to go home.”
“I need to get to my patients dear.” He through his hands up smiling.
“Ok. I don’t wanna argue, I just want you to get some healthy rest, at home. With me.” He pulled me in and I hugged him.
“I know. I promise I’ll get home this evening.”
“Ok. I’ll have dinner set up for us.” I smiled to him. Steven’s such the romantic.
“Ok I love you.” I kissed him. “Now go to work!” He smiled and hugged Makaylah.
“I love you guys.”
“Bye dad I love you too.” We waved him off, and I looked to Makaylah. She had a pencil and notebook open ready.
“Alright how about we visit Earl?”
“Yeha!” She lit up. “I have questions to.”
“Ok, shoot.” We started walking toward his room.
“OK first what time do you come in?”
“Well at 7 and I usually leave about 6, but I’m always on call.” She started writing as we walked. When we got to the room she asked another question but I didn’t hear because I was distracted by a familiar voice. I turned to see Billie standing at the nurse’s desk. A nervous shock was sent through my chest and I felt my ears heat up. I saw someone by him but their face was blocked by a bunch of flowers. I heard his voice a new it was Tre. I gulped and quickly pulled Makaylah into Earl’s room shutting the door behind me. I don’t know why I’m hiding. They’re gonna know I’m here anyway.

I was watching T.V. when I heard a knock. My stomach filled with light butterflies hoping it was Cindy. I haven’t had that feeling in a long time. The door stated to open and I smiled.
“There he is!” my smile faded.
“Oh it’s just you too…”
“Hey I bought you flowers, I thought you were dead you motherfucker!” Billie said. I knew he was playing. Tre stepped in with a huge bouquet of assorted flowers.
“I helped pay!” Tre said
“oh yeah..” Billie shrugged and smiled to me. “Seriously dude, you scared the shit out of me. How you feel?” He sat by me and Tre set the flowers on the table and sat down.
